Exhaust Problem 2000 VAUXHALL OMEGA 2.2 CDX AUTO
« on: 12 June 2011, 15:11:29 »

Hi guys, I am in the process of buying a 2000 X VAUXHALL OMEGA 2.2 CDX AUTO. It seems to have an exhaust problem with the back box. It had fiberglass cladding coming out of the exhaust pipe which  the current owner removed It was taken to KW*F*T by the current owner  but they said this is just soundproofing and said it was ok to drive and not to bother getting it replaced if he wanted to sell the car.
As I am no mechanic and do not want to throw good money away, can anyone shed some light on this matter. Would it be ok to drive the vehicle (and furthermore what sort of cost am I looking at to replace it). Would it fail an MOT (which is due September) with this problem even though the exhaust is not blowing.
This is my first time on here and any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

It won't affect the emissions, the only thing it could fail on is excessive noise due to the stuffing having been blown out but I doubt it would

I'm surprised crap fit did not tell him to buy a new one!

The internal baffles have collapsed, this potentially means the exhaust is partially blocked internally.

Personally, for £75, i'd get a complete new exhaust system from Eternal and either fit yourself or donate to your local mechanics beer fund to fit  :y
