Radio code TID "SAFE" help requested
« on: 07 January 2007, 01:59:58 »

I put a Corsa CDR2005 head unit into my '03 MV6 today, and I can't get it to work, can anyone help?

Turned the ignition on and the display indicated "10 SAFE". Using instructions I found on the internet (I don't have an owners manual), typed in the supplied code, confirmed the numbers and pressed "AS" to enter, but the unit just beeped at me and the count went down to "9 SAFE".

As it's ex-police I ass-u-me the display has ever been paired to another unit, so I just hooked it up.

Can anyone tell from the display messages if its the code thats wrong, or because it hasn't been paired?

Dominic

Sounds like the online instructions were right in their method of input, however each head unit has its own code.

The CDR2005 you got from the Corsa must have had the code someware, either in the manual or written down, you need this code to get the unit to work.

It now says 9 safe because you entered the code in wrong, you get 10 attempts  :y

Yes, agreed, wrong code entered...

After 10 attempts, you're knackered...

Thanks Tunnie,

I did get a code with it, supplied on a business card by an auto electrician. I guess it's wrong, because I tried entering it again and I'm now down to eight lives.

I'll have to find someone who can give the correct code. Any suggestions?

Still no further forward on my radio problem.

Called the Auto Electrician who swears black and blue it's the correct code (he has a decoding machine), the original seller also confirms it was working before he pulled it out.

I have three possible leads/clues:-

1. The radio doesn't beep when I go into programming mode (hold down the AS button and press power on while ignition on)

2. It's out of a Corsa, and mine is (obviously) an Omega.

3. I didn't pair the Radio to the display, because being an ex-police car, it didn't have a radio fitted originally, and I assumed this would be ok.

I'm now down to seven lives...

BTW, I have a VDO Siemens unit, which apparently most advertisers on the internet can't decode (I've already blown the princely sum of £1.99 on one tout who can't deliver)

When i bought my '00 facelift it had a Corsa radio, so it should work.

Just out of interest, your system is not the upgraded Bose system is it? (should say Bose one the grills)

Also the graphic display is it a full size one, or very thin?

Definitely not, its just a very simple CDR2005. In fact I couldn't even listen to the radio if it was decoded, as the antenna cable has been cut at the back of the cavity (I'll have to sort that out in due course) but for now just happy to listen to CDs.

Display is a TID - two lines across the top, and telltales in the bottom half.

Ive had this problem too recently, took it to be decoded they done it(28quid) and luckly i tried the code in the car park,it was wrong.........took it back in,he hooked it up to his box of tricks and the code hade been "miss red" by one digit.Plugged it in and hey presto the code worked. What im saying is it my be worth taking it back and them checking the code again.

The bloke who done mine said miss reading is common on vauxhall units.

Hope this helps.........by the way the radio is crap now its working..........terrible quality.Never mind.
