Meet "Morticia" !!
« on: 01 January 2012, 16:37:43 »

Hi all,

well I finally picked up Morticia yesterday, she's not pristine by any stretch of the imagination, and I've got plenty to do, but here's some photos, and I'm busy compiling a shopping list of things I want to replace and upgrade.  I'd like to have her fully sorted before we take her on holiday to the Dordogne in France in June  :)

Spec is a 2000/W facelift 2.0 16v GLS Auto Estate, the service book says she's 'Black 2' in colour (solid black).  I've got plans, including upgrading the interior, new grille and *whispers* eyebrows, refurbing the wheels, tidying the bodywork and giving it a service.  I've made a shopping list already of parts I want  :)

Anyway, if you take off the value of the road tax, its effectively cost me £550, and I know there are some Elite's on the bay not getting bids at half that money, but at least this car has the benefit of LPG, which is why I wanted it.

Phone kit needs to come out (I've got a bluetooth Parrot kit to go in it)

Broken front mudflaps

All the alloys need refurbishing

Bonnet needs a machine polish

Comments (clean ones) welcome!

Needs a little work on the outside to get it looking nice, but nothing excessive.

You could always cheat and simply replace the door mirrors, wheels, black trim for the wood look if you wanted.

You could always use the De Loren (background) to go back to get the parts brand new  ;D

Are you going to keep it standard or go for the Mv6 look?

A little costly perhaps. However, the reduced cost of LPG should soon claw some of that back.... :y :y

Is that a Vel Satis parked next to it in picture one?

agreed, having seen how cheap Omega's are, I'm glad I didnt pay the original £795 asking price!!  However, I've got plenty of trade contacts who can help me make it look nice for not too much money, however the LPG conversion will help the car redeem itself cost wise.

I'm planning on keeping it for at least 2-3 years whilst its needed as a 'family wagon', and then I'll replace it with either another Omega or I'll get another convertible  :)

nope, its our Renault-Matra Avantime 3.0 V6 Privilege auto (LPG).  Owned it since new (Nov 2002).  Beautiful to drive, and it was great for cruising round France last year.

thanks all for the words of encouragement, I was a bit disheartened tbh when I got her, as there's more to do on it then there was on my 18yr old Astra Convertible that preceded it, but like you say, they are all little bits here and there, and they dont actually stop the car working, so its all stuff I can do as and when time and funds allow.

cheers all !!   :-*

Every Omega I have seen with that style wheel has needed them refurbed. Mine had the same wheels when I bought it but I changed them when the tyres wore out.  Keith B
