General Car Chat / Meriva
« on: 02 May 2014, 22:36:58 »
Got a wee 2003 1.6 8v Meriva as a family runaround.

Does anyone know if these engines are as sensitive to pattern parts as my beloved Omega ?

Thinking crank sensor etc should it go wrong.

Thanks  :y

Omega General Help / Petrol flap
« on: 23 February 2014, 15:41:18 »
The black plastic piece attached to the body that the locking pin goes through is not holding the flap shut.

The locking pin does it's job but the flap doesn't " catch " when closing whilst car unlocked.

Does anyone know what the name / part number is please ?

A minor inconvenience but irritating.

Thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDR 2005
« on: 21 February 2014, 18:14:59 »
On/off button has to be pushed hard to make it work and impossible to set volume using it. Steering wheel controls not much better, volume very difficult to control and today the unit has started to switch itself off on it's own.

Very frustrating, not done anything different to cause this, on/ off button was always a bit iffy but it's awful now.

Anybody had similar ? Is it fixable ?

Thanks for reading.

General Discussion Area / Sky HD offer
« on: 02 March 2013, 18:00:52 »
Got a letter from Sky this morning asking me to come back to HD. £2.50 a month for 12 months. I thought, that's ok so went online, logged in and no such offer is shown. Went to the online chat.... Not available at this time. Finally rang them today. " We have no trace of that offer, try ringing us back on Monday"

Their products are excellent, pricey but good but their customer service is pure pish.  >:(

My mate is having trouble today with his Galaxy going into limp mode. I've Googled but can't find a way to read codes on a Galaxy without professional help.

Does anyone on here know if you can do a Pedal Trick type trick on a Galaxy please ?

Omega General Help / Non starter
« on: 24 December 2012, 18:14:50 »
Just came back home and car was running fine. Gone out to it now and it turns over brightly and quickly as usual but the car n spanner light is permanently on.

I think from previous posts, that's going to be a sensor ?

Grateful of any advice as I have breakdown on the way shortly and don't want to be told a load of old rubbish !

Thank you and happy Xmas.

Omega General Help / Front bearings?
« on: 06 March 2012, 18:33:26 »
Driving home last night when there was a sudden onset of " roaring " type noise from the front of my 2003 2.6 saloon. Checked previous posts and tyres are getting on a bit, but still legal. Steering feels fine. No change in noise when cornering left of right.

When bearings are knackered, is it a sudden onset of noise ? Thought it would be more gradual, but I'm no expert, hence asking your advice please.

Thanks

General Car Chat / Focus Parts
« on: 04 October 2011, 21:50:35 »
I need an o/s wing and the plastic front bumper with fog lamp holes for a Mark 1 Ford Focus. Mine are a bit tatty and a well looked after Focus that has rear end damage would be ideal.

I want genuine Ford as I'm useless with a spanner and will have a go at fitting myself and don't want to be faced with an ill fitting pattern part.

Is there a website for scrappies all over the UK to see my request, or is it a trial and error job ?

Thanks for reading

General Discussion Area / Rude dealers parts dept
« on: 28 September 2011, 10:15:18 »
Got my new ABS card yesterday and rang local dealer to check that they stocked a new battery.

I was told they had and he quoted me £80 plus. I asked about Trade Club price and got " ooo are yaa ? " in reply. Told him I was a private customer and he laughed. Told him that I had an ABS card and asked would he accept it. He replied " you can try "

I needed a battery urgently, so I went along to the dealer and bought it. They looked at the ABS card as if it was covered in sh**. I pointed out to the parts manager, the conversation I'd had with a named member of staff and he simply shrugged his shoulders, saying " well you've bought it now, nobody is twisting your arm to come here "

Business must be booming. I'll never use them again.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Safe mode
« on: 23 June 2011, 16:36:49 »
Omega needed a jump start the other day.

Wife thought she knew the code, but didn't. The display shows " 7 SAFE" but I have followed the manual and can't get the " AS " button to give me a tone so as to enter the correct code.

3 incorrect attempts have been made and I thought allowing 24hrs to elapse would be sufficient.

Have I left it long enough, or am I missing something ?

Thanks for reading and advising.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm going off
« on: 29 January 2011, 21:43:10 »
The alarm on my 2003 2.6 goes off  ( after locking using key fob ) about 5-10 mins after setting, but only when parked on my drive which is a downward slope. On level and when parked on a slope withn the nose up, she is fine. Any ideas please folks ?  Thank you.
