If it's just the casing that you need, Ebay abounds with adverts......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OPEL-VECTRA-OMEGA-3-BUTTON-REMOTE-KEY-FOB-CASE-stver-/251275193452?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item3a812b2c6c

If you need the internal switches, I replaced mine from an Ebay source that I have forgotten, but they were good quality and cheap, so let me know if that's what you need and I'll try to find the details for you.

Could it be the tyre dealers/manufacturers that are making this recommendation?

I've had Type 2 for some years now, and it's controlled by medication. However, I wish I had been made aware of the possible negative aspects of one of the tablets, Metformin: it had a deleterious effect on kidney function and mine is down to about 50%.
I have been taken off them now, but if you are offered Metformin as part of your treatment, do challenge your health care professionals and research the medication yourself, too.

Great idea, Marks: I don't suppose you know which wire, etc? Vehicle wiring diagrams confuse me, even though I taught Electronics for 20 years!
If this is your field of expertise, may I ask another question, please?
Some time ago I replace the petrol cap door solenoid and subsequently a wire (yellow, IIRC) came off from somewhere. It must relate to the solenoid, as it no longer operates, but I simply cannot determine where it became disconnected from. I know it isn't vital for operation of my Omega, but with the price of petrol nowadays I don't want some scaly-backed dog-w*nker helping himself!

No need for apologies anywhere, I have had brilliant help, as usual.
My grateful thanks to all.

Thanks for that; not too useful a technique if I am charging overnight, though!
I don't suppose you know how long the time delay is?

Good point, but I wanted to put current INTO the socket, for charging purposes, not take it out! If I wanted to use it for current supply, e.g. a tyre pump, that would not drain the battery in the time needed to do the job, but the socket would time out before I had finished - not helpful........

Thanks Andy. It is odd, though, when the legend on the dust cover states it has 10 Amp capability - why, therefore, would it disconnect after a few minutes and leave you powerless?
Some features on Omegas are very clever and well thought out.......

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Day driving lights
« on: 07 January 2014, 17:27:18 »
I've never been sure of the official reason for the illegality of fog lights in clear vision conditions, but a common sense reason is that if you are so unaware of the status of your lights appropriate to conditions, should you be allowed to drive?
It's a bit like using your turn indicators when there isn't another vehicle in your vicinity to see them. My driving instructor (ahem, many years ago) said it would likely get me an advisory notice on my test, if not a fail for not being aware of surrounding traffic - or lack of it.

I had this cunning plan (been speaking to Baldrick, you see...), in which I would charge my battery via the rear seat cigarette lighter socket, with a secondary use as system keep-alive for if I needed to remove the main battery.
All worked well for a while and after a few minutes it stopped accepting charge. Does that socket disconnect after a while? I thought that it was permanently live.     ???

Mr. Opti, you surely aren't saying that you would reject the others?
Oh, and to confirm; it is OFFICIAL according to recent research that men do in fact suffer colds and flu lots worse than women. Apparently, because our wiring is different and our lives anyway are more stressful, we go down more quickly and deeply, suffering considerably in the process.
More sympathy from the ladies in future?

My fuzzy memory seems to recall something to the effect that the wording on the lozenges was accidentally printed back-to-front, and when they tried to correct it, the public complained - they liked the quirkiness (and British eccentricity?) of the erroneous labelling and demanded that it be restored.
Is this just my imagination, or can anyone a little on the old side confirm?

Sorry, Stemo.
Apart from the typo - "ran" instead of "rant", I needed to let of steam! It annoys me whenever I read of "solutions" to traffic problems that are not of our making. As I understand it, the government collects over £50,000,000,000 in motoring taxes directly, and obviously loads more in speed and parking fines, yet returns to us about £6,000,000,000 in benefits to the motorist, the remainder going in fighting wars that we don't need to be involved in (to support the US?), education and the NHS amongst other non-motoring expenditure.
Can you see why I'm so cross?
