Dave. Have you idea of the cost of a new laser, and is fitting a DIY matter?

Genuine Blaupunkt lasers now discontinued, which is why we are unable to assist

Aftermarket lasers can very from £30 ~£80 but you will need to get someone to fit it and then calibrate it for you, as this model requires some extensive tweaking to set the laser up correctly

The CDC2 is generally quite robust towards quality CDRs. Don't tell Dave DND I said that ;D.

I`ll pretend you didn`t say that  :P  But yes, the CDC3 burns out lasers much faster than the CDC2, but thats not to say that you should be using CDR`s in there though, as it still isn`t compatible.

Fault description is almost certainly a laser that has failed - getting hard to source those parts now, but there are still a few companies across Europe offering service on them. As far as replacement though, you have to be carefull as there are many versions of CDC2,and they are NOT cross compatible with each other. Some have codes and some are dedicated to particular head units.

Bottom line is this:
On the label on the side of your CDC2 will be a barcode and a 10 digit number, something like 7 123 456 789
If searching for a replacement - then this number MUST BE THE SAME in order for it to run. (Do not rely on any other Vx part numbers)

Update:

If there is only one jack plug, I may have inadvertantly sent you an 06-109 and not an 06-109B

Send me that one back and I will make up a lead here for you   :y

Apologies  :'(

Autoleads one is out of stock, which is why an identical replacement has been sent.   :y

Black plug goes straight into the Vx loom, and the molex connector should plug into your car kit main unit. Speaker plug goes into main unit and allows sound to play through vehicle as intended.

As others have said, use genuine Nokia Mic as the Vx one is awful    :y

Out of curiosity, what make and model of stereo did you have fitted in there as standard?

If 2 digit one, like CD30 or CD70, then the power connections are CAN-BUS and data ones, and not suitable for aftermarket stereo, where you need to take the supply from the back of the Hazzard switch.

If 4 digit one, CDR2005 etc, the the orange and red need to need swapped over on your Alpine loom.

If it was a blown fuse there would be no power at all....the power is there when not plugged into either headunit....oh well time to.break.out multimeter

I have had many instances where blown fuses have not blown the way that they should, and the blown  "tails" touch each other inside the housing thus creating a circuit, allowing nothing more than leakage current to pass. If anything proper is connected, the surge in current cannot pass through the blown bits, makes diagnosing a blown fuse a little more difficult.

But . . . . Starting to see this on a more frequent basis now as cars are brought in that have defeated the owners in a similar scenario  ;)

this is gonna be a long one so grab a cuppa.....right i have 2 alpine iva d310 dvd players...one has a knackered screen the other is fully working....i wired it into my veccy the other day...just loosly to test speakers....it worked fine.....when i came to permanently wire it in it wasnt working.....when i plug the multi sockets into each other(the power and speaker plugs)without plugging into stereo...there is power all round....when i plug into the head unit the power goes...the ignition live becomes a negative....i have swapped all the bits from both systems( the brain, head unit and tv decoder)....im at my wits end...its a very expensive unbit and cant figure out why it was working one minute and not the next....i know its not a miggy problem but you guys are so so nice an helpful....cheers guys  :y  :)

Sounds like a blown fuse to me, or a bad connection breaking down under load.

I suspect when you quickly lashed it in that you may not have had permanent and ignition lives the right way round, and now you are doing it properly, this fault has now been highlighted. Check carefully using a meter

The bike one I have on my Beach Buggy doesn`t sound for the first 20 or so flashes, so you can approach junctions etc in silence, its only when you leave the indicators on for a longer period that they start to beep.

 ;)

That sounds just the ticket. Where can I get one of them ?

Have a search on ebay for the bike warning ones, some are straightforward buzzers, whilst some are advertised as having a time delay on them - mine came from my local bike shop, but sadly now gone - if you have a bike shop near you, suggest to have a word with them

Might be worth investigating some of the indicator buzzers used on motorbikes - They are also very loud, as designed to be heard in a crash helmet over the noise of the exhausts.

As well as wiring everything up correctly, these interfaces often have a correct power up and connection sequence that must be adhered to in order for the head unit to recognise it

Hence the need to study the instructions carefully   ;)

Oh, BTW - the top MINI-ISO block is not used for steering controls as previously suggested on this model

I think you have already discovered the term Please read the manual for the Sony head unit connections

May I also suggest Please read the manual for the connections of the interface too   :P

if you find a good ac specialist who is not a rip off merchant (sometimes the two go together unfortunately) you may find it just needs a re-gas.

my ac didnt work i went to a small place they measured the system it had only 50g in it, they put in 980g and it has worked ever since over 3 years now touch wood.

actually that place wasn't an ac specialist they were just a good tyre and exhaust garage who had the ac kit and knew what they were doing.  i recall the whole thing took about an hour while they left it on leak test.  very cheap though.

I`ll agree with that one - took an old Porsche to Qwick Fit when they were doing a £25 regas summer special - worked perfectly ever since  :y

From experience, if you need to remove an airbag, then the fitting of a resistor is really your best option. Airbags have still been know to go off even when switched off, and most of those switches and sensors seem to activate a resistor anyway. Never seen the ability to alter the bags via any ecu interrogation of any vehicle though.

What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe there is a known solution available  :y
