Just a follow up question on this, what fails on these it is the key not sending a strong enough signal to open the doors or the car itself not receiving it. One of my fobs is good new battery, button good but every so often i have to press and wave it around like a idiot to get the doors to open.other fob is total add it

On 2 button, its the battery holder. On 3 button, battery holder and switches.

Remember, the battery needs to "recover" after each press, which has the symptom of reduced range on the 2nd or 3rd press.

No because the new fobs would need programming to your cars ECU... for that you would need programming software and most importantly the car pass....

IIRC from my days at Vx you can swap the chips over and they will start the car, can't remember if there's a work round for the remote side of it... may be able to press the lock button with ignition on to initialise it but my memory fails me
