Avon leak in car
« on: 23 June 2016, 15:12:25 »

Took my Omega for aircon work today and apparently it is leaking into the car. Their detector picked it up. Apparently leaking under dash. Garage don't want to know as they reckon dash out job. Any ideas please.

Very funny. Of course it should read aircon but at least you got a first reply in.

IIRC there is a guide to fixing the dryer and seals on here under the maintenance section, I am sure some one can direct you to the thread :y

Thanks hopefully someone will be along soon who has had this problem before. Of course it doesn't help when I am looking to drive the car to Slovakia next weekend where the temperature is over 30c at times and need aircon.

Just heard from the garage. Apparently it's the evaporator that's leaking. They reckon anyway.

There is an expansion valve hiden up behind the glove box area ,which is a PITA to get and and replace.

Mine was not working correctly on the previous Elite so had it replaced.Part is around £35 but lots of labour

That may be the cause as from looking on this site evaporators rarely fail. Really need to know how to access it. Suppose that failing would cause a leak into the cabin.

Open all 4 windows?  :o
Now that would be a fine way of getting rid of the Avon but rubbish for aircon or keeping the wife happy on our long journey.

No hasn't worked for awhile. The garage checked it out today and their detector picked up a gas leak in the cabin. Checked all other parts under bonnet no leaks but definitely one from the cabin.
