If you were going to the trouble of restoring something, why would you choose that?

Memories nightmares...

Had my first proper car crash in one of those... Dad buried it into the back of a stationary Cortina estate at 70mph on the A3...

The front seats simply tip forward with no latch no rear seat belts either... Most vivid memory of the whole debacle was a Lego Technic digger remaining on the parcel shelf inspite of the back seat folding down.

That car was a French blue epitome of shit. There was the time one of the rear windows simply fell out. Then there was the time we had stopped for petrol at the last garage in Thetford only for the cambelt to snap as we pulled out. And the subsequent 10 hour relay back home...

Halcyon days...  :D

Might put a bid in  ::)

We had a Mk1 with the longitudinal engine and transaxle gearbox fitted to the front of it.

Dad got it for a few pounds as the timing chain had gone and on these, its engine out to change (hard up against the bulkhead).

Mum drove it for ages, used to hang her handbag on the gearshift which protruded from the centre of the dash, reg started OGO

Like a lot of cars like that, there's a good chance it's a really nice "20 footer" ... seen plenty at shows (especially old American metal) like that and it's one thing that puts me off buying something of that age - even if nobody else would see them, I'd see all the flaws every time I looked at it.

The estates were quite popular,I nearly bought one back in the '80s even though it had that awful Ford V4 engine in it.
