Just wondering what the going rate is for an MFD. I'm starting to have difficulty deciphering my display now - and also whether it's worth getting one off an early FL, as I'd gain an extra function from the trip computer (gallons of fuel used if memory serves)

I'm looking into the possibility of making an adapter between a FL MID and the PFL loom.

The later MID type was fitted to later PFL cars as well - MFL onwards.  These tend to be cheap as chips as rarely go wrong, unlike he early, pre 1998 ones.

To save reprogramming, it wants to come off the same engine, gearbox, wheel size range (ie, either 15 or 17 inch wheels, or 16" wheels), HID configuration and preheater configuration.

Much appreciated - didn't realise the MFLs were the same as FL - assumed the change came on FL only. Happy days. That 'enlarges' the search, now. Cheers

Believe I have a couple from DTi's (Think they are the same - may be 10 character rather than 8 - not that I know much about PFL's), problem is that engine, transmission, HID etc programming will be the total opposite to your car

Thanks Andy, much appreciated. It's not going to be (too) a hard thing to source I suspect, and it's certainly not in the same league as an ABS ECU or Crank Sensor, it's just a display with missing pixels, just an annoyance I can live with until the 'right' unit at right price comes along 

Now my mate breaking my door, so I can't open the bugger - that's a priority!!

All MFL and FL MIDs are 10 digit, single grey connector.  All pre 1998 MIDs are 8 digit with 2 connectors.

Not sure, think it evolved to become the CCR600 in later life with that strange Grundig / Phillips relationship / divorce between '72 and '98 LOL.

I have one with the grey plug i think but its from a 3.0l manual on the plus side no pixels are missing lol.

Hi all, yes as you have rightly deduced, I have the SC804 - DC012 autochanger.


Thanks gtsstylebaby, I will consider that; obvious difference, though mine being the lighter, nippier 2.5 (bullsh*t alert) there'd be a few incorrect readings I'd guess. A new, old stock early MID, which would require Tech 2-ing I'd be interested in, at least you know you'd get probably 10 years out of it before it starts losing pixels. The more likely route I think is going to be a MFl and early FL MID from a 2.5, pre-2.6-era.

Should point out I do have a spare 'freebie' MID, single grey plug, which I got from a mate's old MFL speedo binnacle. (lower rpm redline and glowplug light identified it as being a diesel)

Just out of interest could the appropriate members blessed with Tech2 ownership quote me for a re-programming? either openly on forum or pm if prefer  I may have a couple of other possible Tech2 jobs too...
