Omega General Help / Re: cant open door or boot
« on: 12 August 2022, 19:55:51 »
Did you use safe lock btw? By locking it twice? In that case you can’t unlock it by lifting the door pins, unfortunately… It’s a common Opel/Vauxhall problem with safe lock option. That’s also the reason I only lock the doors once, never twice.

Omega General Help / Re: Removing a headlamp in a Face lift Omega

On a FL it’s easy! Trim off and just a few extensions on a 8mm socket and there you go. I usually take out the entire headlight when changing bulbs: faster and easier!

Is the cardan shaft replaced exactly the same way it used to be? If it’s rotated along the hardy disc, you get awful vibrations too

Not sure if you already did it, but since you have a manual gearbox it’s easy to check: drive above 20mph/h and press the clutch. If the vibrations stop, you can check the engine, otherwise there’s a 99% chance it’s in the gearbox or beyond.

I guess many Omegas are scrapped now... The Dutch forum is already completely abandoned, with only 1656 left in The Netherlands last year, it becomes a rare item on the road (at least over here).

It all depends if they are LHD or RHD lights. You can’t modify the light pattern with the adjusters.

Omega General Help / Re: E10

There’s no advantage at all using E10, only risks of damaging the engine and in worst case your whole car.

Well there is, both environmental and the fact that Ethanol may provide a power increase or at the very least, offer more resistance to knock.

If fuel consumption increases with 10%, I don’t foresee any environmental advantages to be honest. Luckily I haven’t tried it with my omega. ;D

I refuse to put E10 in the tank. E5 runs smoothly and I’m not willing to “test” by means of trial and error. So far, any “old” car I’ve driven runs sh*t on E10 and seen few cars burning because of E10 so why bother trying? ;)

There’s no advantage at all using E10, only risks of damaging the engine and in worst case your whole car.

It may depend on the model year but as far as I know any old ECU has to be de-programmed from the car, the new one has to be programmed into your car. For this swapping action, you also need the ignition chip and barrel as stated above. I’m not sure what equipment is required but I recall a Tech2. I’ve been there, done that it with Astra G and Zafira A.

Omega General Help / Re: ATP Germany ?

Yes, it seems you can order there, but it appears they’re struggling and almost bankrupt if you google a little. I’ve read about it on several internet pages and a few Omega FB forums. I don’t say they don’t deliver anymore, but I do suggest to do a quick check before ordering. Betrer safe than sorry...?

Maybe a silly question, but do all FL Omega’s have the option to close windows with the remote? :-X

And if you turn on the radio for a while? Doesn’t it auto-adjust the right date and time?

Had the same issue when I bought mine 5 years ago. All fuses were ok and I ended up using the power cable for heated seats instead. Not really the best option, but it works fine as I prefer to have a 12V outlet instead of unused sockets without switches (I don’t have heated back seats).

Omega General Help / Re: Front Drop Links
« on: 18 July 2019, 21:41:59 »
On Monday I replaced the drop links for SKF ones together with everything around it (wishbones, shock absorbers, steel brake hoses). Although the box states that it contains “SKF approved supplier” content so let’s see how long they will last. The original ones did their job up to 230.000 kms / 17 years.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Self unlocking Omega
« on: 28 March 2019, 20:09:37 »
Few years ago I drove a ‘98 Vectra which was sometimes unlocked by another Vectra. I also unlocked accidentally another Vectra once parked right next to me. Although I could lock my car, I was not able to lock the other car.

Omega General Help / Re: Driver's door won't close
« on: 28 March 2019, 20:06:10 »
Unfortunately a common problem with a few lots of the door locks. Had the same problem driving on the highway which is actually no fun in corners. :o Don’t waste time on fixing the locking system, get a new / second hand one.
