Just back from the dealers. I had the car booked in again for a recharge, at a reduced rate, and free fitting of the schrader (?) valve - thanks to everyone for the advice / part number, etc.
Well, saw the car going into the workshops, and a bit later there was some twoing and froing between the mechanic and the service manager. About five minutes later the car was back on the forecourt. Much too quick for the job! What now?
It turns out that none of the available tools fit the valve, and as it is aluminium there is no point in forcing it, for fear of damaging the 'seat'. Couldn't believe it!
If I can find a suitable socket, they will fit it as agreed. So I need to start searching. I'm hoping to head off on holiday at the weekend, so will leave it until I get back. He reckoned it was something like a 14.5 mm?
So I'm home again with no aircon
Maybe it's just not meant to be ............
