Sorry guys, but didn't want to mess about too much, so any help much appreciated.

Omega General Help / Cam cover gasket part number.
« on: 29 September 2012, 11:30:11 »
Lifted the gaskets out of the boot of Mrs2112's car last night and dropped them in the man cave for fitting tomorrow, in case she was going out.
Was just about to have a look at the guide and noticed the part numbers at the top. From memory, the part number on the label for my gaskets ends in 456, which is not the same as in the guide. I appreciate they could have changed since then, but before I open these packets, or more importantly start stripping down the motor, can anyone please confirm the correct part number please? (Y26SE)

Cheers  :y

General Discussion Area / BB 'sim not allowed'
« on: 25 September 2012, 23:09:56 »
My wife's 8520 has had this error all day, and despite removing the battery, sim etc I can't clear it. Tried to phone the provider a few times but apparently there's a new iPhone out which is causing all the lines to be busy!!??
Anyway, my son had mentioned there was a problem with BB itself and I was wondering if anyone had heard similar?

Cheers

General Car Chat / Fold flat passenger seat ...

Just realised yesterday that I don't have this facility. Weird! I had it on my previous Omegas and thought it was standard across the range  :-X

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Sport mode indicator
« on: 19 September 2012, 19:13:43 »
Changed the trim around the gear lever today, and all seemed to be ok. Noticed now though that the indicator on the dash is not showing, The actual button lights up, and I can 'feel' the change, but the dashboard indicator is not on.
I know it was working this morning, so not sure what I've done. I think the connections are all complete, and the other tell tale signs are there anyway. Blown bulb maybe? Not worth worrying about really, but just thought I'd ask in case anyone else had suffered this, or there's something I've missed.

Cheers  :y

General Car Chat / Aircon - the next instalment .........
« on: 31 July 2012, 11:14:48 »
Just back from the dealers. I had the car booked in again for a recharge, at a reduced rate, and free fitting of the schrader (?) valve - thanks to everyone for the advice / part number, etc.  :y
Well, saw the car going into the workshops, and a bit later there was some twoing and froing between the mechanic and the service manager. About five minutes later the car was back on the forecourt. Much too quick for the job! What now?

It turns out that none of the available tools fit the valve, and as it is aluminium there is no point in forcing it, for fear of damaging the 'seat'. Couldn't believe it!
If I can find a suitable socket, they will fit it as agreed. So I need to start searching. I'm hoping to head off on holiday at the weekend, so will leave it until I get back. He reckoned it was something like a 14.5 mm?

So I'm home again with no aircon  :-[

Maybe it's just not meant to be ............  :'(

Need a new washer pump for the headlight washer jets, or alternatively the correct part number so I can check online.

Omega General Help / Headlamp washers
« on: 25 July 2012, 16:26:06 »
Had a quick look at these today to see if there was anything obvious which was preventing them from operating. Came across a 'y' type connector, though not actually that shape, which seems to take a feed from the washer bottle and split it to each jet. Took it off and pushed some water down the relevant hoses, and was relieved to see it coming out from the headlamp washers on both sides. Went back to the connector but could not feed water through it in any direction. I am presuming there is probably a non return type valve inside, and am wondering if it has closed totally? Don't want to replace it if this is normal though, and would need to check further.
Thought I'd start with the simple thing first and any advice woud be appreciated.  :y

Omega General Help / MOT fail
« on: 18 July 2012, 20:18:08 »
Well, as suggested elsewhere, it failed. Only three problems - worse that I'd hoped, but better than expected  ;)

Headlamp washers not working - hoping it's only blocked pipes or something simple;
Broken rear spring - already discussed in another OOFers thread, so should be able to sort that?
Rear brake imbalance - not sure what to make of this, or how to resolve it.

Suggestions welcome .................  :y

Had thought about selling the Elite. In fact, had even got as far as penning a 'for sale' ad. I'm just not loving it the way I had expected to, or the way I have loved my others.
Decided to give it another few weeks though, especially as the MOT was due today ..................

Yep, it failed  :'(

Payback me thinks  :-X

Omega General Help / Aircon ..... again!
« on: 02 July 2012, 19:49:38 »
As you know I had my aircon recharged in May at my local Vx. I thought there was an improvement, but alas in the last couple of weeks I realised that the air was as cold with 'ECO' on as with it off  :-\
Anyway, made an appointment for today with the service department in the event that there had in fact been an issue. Turns out the initial check and recharge only tests for leaks, etc. but not for pressure, and the 'pressure valve' on top of the pipe is failing, and therefore the system is not holding pressure so not functionning properly.
Not sure if this makes sense, and a pic may be beneficial to show the valve I'm talking about.
The bottom line would be a £280 bill from Vx, though they advised to just put the windows down  :D

Anyway, after all that my question is this - if one of our friendly breakers had the offending item, is it something that could be fitted at home, or as it is part of the aircon system would it need to be left to a 'dealer'?

Cheers  :y

Omega General Help / Exhaust compatability query ...
« on: 02 June 2012, 00:40:59 »
Are all V6 exhausts, particularly the back box, the same? Other than the 3.0 and 3.2 having the twin tailpipes?
A local factor wouldn't order a 3.2 box for my 2.6 as he said it wouldn't fit.
Just thought I better check  ::)
