Ok, thanks for the additional information, Marks; I had been unaware of the horizontal inaccuracies, always thought they were kosher!
Just think, with the full-spec GPS they could have you to within 4 inches, yes?

Marks, GPS will always under-read on any gradient, the steeper the gradient the greater the error due to the fact that they can only calculate "linear" speeds, i.e. they cannot take into account the distance travelled vertically, either up or down so it seems that you have not travelled as far in a given amount of time, hence seemingly slower.

I always understood that they were deliberately set to be about 10% fast, for reasons of flattery and to avoid the greed cameras!

Stunning - looks factory fresh!
I assume that you already have a dog guard for it, Kate, but buried in my garage somewhere is one that I took from my deceased Carlton estate, if it's any use to you?

Thanks, minifreek; I've stolen your flag for my desktop background, with a nice "true-blue" border round it!
What a pity that the English flag has been taken over and abused by football hooligans: to display it today would have you considered to be one of them......

Omega General Help / Re: Broken remote or what ?

It's worth trying another battery, especially if the one you have came from a £1 store!
It sounds like the battery you have is either low capacity or old and has high internal resistance, hence the delay before it lights your LED again?
Let's hope it's as simple as that......

My understanding is that the base is a high temperature grease - needed for brake pads - loaded with copper particles to aid heat dissipation/transference. Just to sing its praises even more, it's great for other areas where heat is an issue and you might want to disassemble again sometime: exhaust bolts, spark plugs, manifold bolts, etc.

I know Kwik-Fit don't find favour here, but I have to say that when I asked them to check/regas mine, it only lasted a week or so, and they gave me two further refills until they found the leak, and said if and when I got it mended (I haven't, yet) they would allow me one further free refill. Got to give them credit......

Thanks, tidla. As far as I know, I don't have a specific problem, I was just interested in the topic for preventive maintenance, so I don't need to do large amounts of dismantling, do I?

All understood, Shackeng, thanks.
Would it be worth practising on the glove box lock to get the hang of it without its being disastrous if I get it wrong, or are they totally different locks?

Thanks Kevin. And you started a thought: would a dry lubricant like PTFE be suitable - I have an aerosol?

Thanks, Nick - especially your keyring comment; I never even considered that.
I'll just lightly spray the blade with WD40 and insert it, then clean it all off, then.

Ron.
