No, its a black grill (or 2 grills, can't remember) - really obvious when you see it...

It is two black grills.  If you have a CD Changer, you will ideally need to slide this out of the carrier to get a better view.................

Hi,  The miniface lift cars (1998 onwards) had what is called projector lamps which are brighter.  I have no problems with them. ;)

As to fitting Xeons, I do not know personally as I have not done it myself, but I think others have.

Regarding installing the xeon bulbs, you cannot simply put the bulb in as xeon bulbs require a very high voltage to operate and hence the headlamps require the associated control gear to generate this voltage.

If fitting xeon headlamps, please bear in mind that there are strict rules relating to these lamps like auto adjustment controls and the lamps must have high pressure washers.  These are just two things that spring to mind.

On balance, I would just fit the projector lamps.  These come up on e-bay from time to time.

I hope that this helps.

Could also use Lighter fuel - I used this is an extreme circumstance a while ago!

When filling-up following urban driving I usually get 350-375 on the range, or up to 450eesh following motorway drive. On one single rare occasion, after a very long and boring journey, I saw the magic 500... it never happened again though.  :(
I too, have seen the magic 500! :)  Only once though and it would seem a never to be repeated event. :(

No it doesn't. I had a problem with my A/C last Easter - a long story, but it was an electrical fault - the revs rose when you apparently put the A/C on but the compressor clutch was NOT engaging.

That is because the pressure sensor in the system indicated that there was sufficient pressure to engage the clutch on the compressor.  This signals to the ECU to raise engine revs before the compressor cuts in.  This avoids a brief power loss which would occur if the revs were to be raised after the clutch engaged.

This is my understanding anyway.

I only described the engine rpm theory as an easy test figuring that further posts would follow. ;)

Usually due to low gas pressure. Whether or not is just needs a regas will require a specialist - they should put a dye in with it, so if its leaking, they can tell where from.

If the A/C isn't used at least weekly, the compressor may have seized, that will be expensive.

Using A/C regularly keeps the system working - the lubricants in the gas stop the seals drying out and stop the compressor seizing...

All true and I meant to say this above  :-[

Firstly, do you have climate control or standard A/C?

If you have climate control, then the idle speed should increase by a couple of hundred rpm with climate ON.  I imagine that this would be the same with regular A/C.  This test proves that the compressor is working and, more importantly, that there is refrigerant (gas) in the system.  Sometimes you can also hear a click as the compressor engages...........

If the above is true then I woudl recommend that you get the car to an A/C specialist and ask them to replace the filter / dryer and then VAC and regas the system.  This takes some time so be prepared to leave the car with them for a day.

If you do it now, you will probably pay a bit less...........................

Following this, get the system vaced and regased each year with the filter / dryer being replaced every two years.............

I have followed this procedure with my Cavalier which I have had for 10 years.  I had to pay nearly £1000 several years ago to get the system working and asked the person who worked on my car how to prevent the system failing.  What I have written above was his reply.  It has not let me down.

If the compressor is not engaging, then there may be a fault with it or there is no gas in the system.  Either way, it will need looking at by an A/C specialist.  It is fairly common on the Omega for the Condenser to fail (this is the A/C radiator at the front of the car).

Hope this helps and good luck

I've got a set of the "proper" hose clip pliers, bought them to get the clips off the breather pipes on the top of the V6 plenum as you can't easily get them off otherwise, on my old miggy. Bought some replacements for the new one as it didn't have any, and Vx supplied ... jubilee clips!!

TBH, I've found the best thing to use for those spring clips shown in your pic is a set of mole grips (self locking pliers, about a fiver from wickes) - lock them holding the clip open, you can then wiggle it free no problem normally ... plus you can use those upright which you can't do with the "proper" hose clip pliers.

Yep,  I have also used Mole grips in the past to great effect.

It is interesting about your breather pipes having these type of clips - on my V6, they are Jubliee clips.  They were not put on by me either..............

Sorry to hear about those clips.  What manufacturers cannot just use jubilee clips I do not know!  I have used a pair of water pump pliers in the past to great effect with these type of clips.  They are adjustable and open up nice and wide - just the job for these clips.  You can get them in the tool section of B&Q, Wickes etc.

On to your cam sensor - on my Cavalier you take the ECOTEC strip off the rocker cover which exposes the wire leading into it.  There is a clip which you have to (I think) press in or down to release the sensor.  I think from here the sensor either slides out OR, you need to take the timing belt cover off to release the securing nut.  I have never actually done this myself, but was going to hence I researched it a little.

I assume that with yours being the newer 2.2 engine, you already had the modified cam sensor fitted and the dealer supplied you with the correct replacement?
