I've got the standard Vaux GO in my Megga, a 2.5 CDX.  This is the 66Ah version.  I have the Vaux Go battery in the cavalier, this is the 55Ah version.  These batteries are nice and cheap to buy, look good in the engine bay (well it does in the Cav as the Omega has a cover) and seem to last well.  They do not, though seem to hold their charge for extended periods when the car is not used (according to the magic eye anyway).  This is probably true of most batteries though.

The Vaux battery in both cars copes well, and turns the engine over just fine on the starter.

Mine runs at around this temperature.  However, the cooling fans are not constantly on, rather they cut in and out (all be it fairly regularly).  A long while ago, there was a thread about running temperature of people's cars and it seems that quite a few run at these sort of temperatures.  However, some people report that they run at around 92.

I have just left mine as it is TBH.

I thought that all leather trim had the electric adjustment which is what deleted the fold flat facility.  You learn something new everyday!

Used the card many times and have saved time and time again so well worth the £20.

Chavaliers??  What is wrong with Cavaliers?  My 2.0 CDX is great.  Comfortable (although not as comfortable as the Omega) and a nice level of equipment including A/C.  Excellent fuel economy as well (which the Omega has not got!)

Though many Cavs do seem to end up being Chavved, certainly around where I work.

No worries - just defending my unchavved CDX!  I agree though, that some Cavs are now being subjected to this kind of treatment.  Not only Cavs, but Escorts, Saxos and Corsas.  I would have thought that they should concentrate more on the standard of driving rather than drilled metal peddles, metal tax disc holders etc!

Back to the thread though, I remember reading on the dark side a member there with an earlier ecotec system (Simtec 56.1) had this issue and it turned out to be the disk on the crank being gummed up with old oil.

Due to the running out of fuel, I would also get a new fuel filter and fit it.  Running problem could be a lack of fuel supply caused by a blocked filter.  This would cause a lack of fuel pressure which may trigger the EML.  Could also be a fouled plug causing poor sparking which may also trigger the EML.  This is just a theory.

Symptoms are like a crank sensor, but I have read in the past that when they die no amount of cranking will get it started again until the engine has cooled down.  Have you have starting issues in the past?  By this I mean has the engine taken a long time to start?

You need to join the club, about £25 per year, and then they'll send you a membership card which will entitle you to Trade Card prices - provided that you can convince your local Vx part dept. The cynic in me though says that Vauxhall will eventually close this method of getting a card if everyone & his wife is entitled to a TC account.  

Believe it or not, I have more hassles convincing the dealer to accept my real Trade Club card than the ABS card.  The ABS card comes with a slip of paper that tells dealer who to call (within Trade Club) if they are unsure.

ABS membership is £20 per year, though you have to own a 6 cylinder (or 'have an interest in') Vauxhall.  The ABS club tends to cover older Vauxhalls, so their coverage of Omegas is a bit weak, so you still need to come here for help

Other clubs do TC cards cheaper, but I recommend ABS.

This is quite correct.  My ABS card arrived within days.  I had to be set up at the dealer and the slip of paper was supplied with my card.  I showed this to the dealer and following a phone call, there was no problem.  I have been using (any enjoying the price savings) the card ever since.

Damage can be caused by towing an auto.  You have to keep the speed below 50MPH I think and the range is limited as well.  I cannot remember exactly but I think that you can tow it for either 30 or 60 miles.  You could, of course, always disconnect the prop and tie it up somewhere.  If the distance is large, towing the car by rope or rod may not be advisable in any case....
