There were also two more crashes yesterday, one between J9-J10 M20 and another between J10-J11, a bad day yesterday on the motorways around here. There was nearly 20 miles of complete standstill traffic from Ashford to Maidstone yesterday afternoon.

£9000 is about the right money, the 3.0 diesel generally reliable, make sure you start it from cold, any judder when cold is likely to be an injector or a glow plug issue. Check the running temperature on the secret menu, if it doesn't sit at anything between 88-95 the EGR and or main thermostats will need changing. They're good cars, go really well, and that one is quite well specced so will fetch £9000.

Would you say the 530i is a more reliable engine, Especially when it comes to high mileage examples ?... These E60's are really growing on me just not their prices :-\

EDIT: Which BMW Specification would be similar to Elite, I presume M Sport would be the equivalent to the MV6.

Most modern petrols will be a bit more reliable than modern diesels, however that's not to say the 3.0 diesel is unreliable. BMW don't really do trim levels, you get a half decent base spec, and then you have to find one with the options you want selected. Ideal when buying new, not brilliant buying second hand though. All E60's however come with auto lights/wipers, i-Drive, all electric windows, CD Player etc etc. luckily though, a lot of people spec Sat-Nav, and you can find some with many options ticked.

M Sport is basically the same as the SE, except the bodykit, sports seats, and all M Sports come with a lovely fat beefy steering wheel  :-* :-*.

General Car Chat / Vectra C GSI issue?
« on: 19 August 2013, 08:18:04 »
Got a 2002 Vectra C 3.2, when you floor it, and then let off ( or dip the clutch) the revs seem to take an age to come down, any ideas what this could be? Quick car, I like it, always wanted one and picked this up dirt cheap, it's nice to be on a V6 again.

The argument over range is not a problem for us.  95% of my trips are below 30 miles, I would say that 98% were below 15.  I commute to work on the bike/train.

The leaf is not designed to be your long distance car.  If all you do is short journeys a couple of times a day then it will definitely be a suitable choice for you.  For those situations where a bot more range is required from time to time then you have 2 choices, have another car available or hire one.  Don't forget I am saving at least 2 thousand quid a year on fuel , maybe 3.  But I means I get to keep the jag for now for those longer trips and for when I need to take the bike to a race albeit on a reduced mileage insurance.

The leaf is made for shopping, school run, family trips in the local area, short commutes, etc.  Inside is quite roomy, I am quite comfortable in the back which is rare in cars this size.

It fits our needs and situation nicely, it won't be for everyone.  It would be absolutely perfect if it had the means of fitting a bike rack.  One thing is for sure, as batteries develop over the net few years; watch this space.  EVs are getting better.

£26,000 or thereabouts is a lot of money for something that isn't designed to be a long distance car though  :o.

Ever since the term 'politically correct' came about I suppose? Whatever is said these days, someone is offended.

All current 6 cylinder BMW diesels are 3.0's be it a 740d, 535d, or an xDrive35d/40d. Most of the 25d's are now 4 cylinder twin turbo units. Previous 740/745d's in the E38 and E65 were never available here. There's a 184 BHP version of the 3.0 Diesel from 1998 that has a fair few similarities.
