Must be a day for MOT passes - a pass on the Petrol Blue 3.2 Elite with clean bill of health and no advisories. In fact it created a lot of admiration from the other mechanics during its test..

Going back quite a number of years now, the tester at the little village garage i usedOne thing that is mandatory ,yet I doubt ever gets tested ..... Thats exactly what happens when I take cars for MOT at my local garage, although the car isnt hoisted up. The tester is in a pit under it. |

Did oil and filter on the V70. The D4 5 Cylinder engine isn't the greatest for getting the oil level correct on. Takes more than what half the online sources say, dipstick (a retrofit) shows just above half, electronic gauge says full. This is one of those engines that likes to fill the sump with diesel if it doesn't complete a regen, then the car starts to complain.
Also managed to give the Silver Omega a good wash, lots of green forming on the window seals etc. Didn't come up too bad after a bit of work though. My arms ache now! |

Some stations have ATLs (automated test lanes) where the tester can do an MOT on his own
(vibrate plates/shakers to rock suspension, mirrors to check rear lights etc ) non ATLs require a second person / helper Many yest stations have "test viewing areas" so you can watch I doubt many garages or test stations would allow general public in the work or test areas these days it's an insurance liability due to "people" being STUPID ,getting hurt, then claiming compensation much like everywhere ,"where there's blame ,make a claim" Alternatively ... use common sense ,don't get injured in the first place |

Finished a head gasket repair on a friends 1.4 Turbo Zaf C. Wife has one of these (2016 SE 1.4 Auto) - I really should dump the coolant on this. Been giving it annual oil changes with Dex1 Gen2. It does low miles, but lots of stop/start town stuff. It's been very reliable so far, just changed the coolant hose that goes from the coolant tank and plumbs in what I assume is the main coolant engine feed. The one with the metal clip, it was starting to weep a bit. It blew a windscreen washer pump around 2 years ago. But apart from that since 2019 been a solid mummy wagon. |
