On my new purchase there's the Bose upgrade been fitted but the rear subs on the parcel shelf are very quite, is the amp feed by its own fuse or is it just a case of m amps has had it. All other speakers are fine.

does it have the original head unit - with BOSE on the cassette door? My old omega had a Kenwood head unit - the amp had been bypassed - if you played music and listened carefully, the subs were working - just not very loud !!

The amp is fitted to the tray under the parcel shelf, which is "fun" to remove ... my old miggy had an empty tray  

... according to the wiring diagram in the book of lies, yes the subs do have a seperate feed from the amp ...

The whole system is original and the head unit does say Bose on it, you can hear the rears working but are very quite which is why I think the amp is knackered

hmmm ... could be ... they do come up on fleabay occasionally - but the rest of the speakers normally run through the amp too. Is the amp fitted in the tray under the parcel shelf? Sounds suspiciously similar to my old one where the wiring had been butchered. I only really found out to what extent when I got the tray out ... so if there was no power I'd expect all the speakers to be dead ... power at amp is via fuse F6 - check that one - 20 Amp, connects to amp via a 2.5mm red cable, ground is brown 2.5mm. Red/white appears to be a remote power-on from the head unit - so check that at the amp too (should have 12V between that and the brown wire when the head unit is powered on)

Unless anyone else knows better, to get to the amp you need to remove the rear parcel shelf trim (complete with blind) before you can get to the bolts that secure the tray in place ... there's a how-2 on removing the blind here

The ones on the rear shelf are for low frequency only, so depending on what you are listening may appear quiet...

OK ... have just double-checked and the radio is fed off a seperate fuse (F12) - there's a list of 'em here - although I did look it up in the wiring diagram to be sure, which seems to indicate that the same feed connects to the memory seats. Do those work??

As TheBoy points out, they are subs only - so play some "suitable" music ... some dance or drum & bass should do the trick

I was playing some heavy rock so would of expected the subs to be bouncing.

hmmmm ... could well be the amp then ... at least you have taste in music

Well checked subs today and there is sound coming from them but just not as loud as I'd expect

hmmmmm .... sounds very similar to my old one. The amp had been bypassed, subs joined to rear door speaker outputs - perhaps the sub outputs on yours had gone and the previous owner had bodged the wiring as on mine?

Just a thought guys my elite has the Bose set up and the rear subs sounded real dull I checked the set up on the head unit and the bass was set at 0 I turned them up to +2 and damm near blew my head off with a touch of Queen
Just thought it might be worth a mention as its a lot quicker to do than remove that darn shelf

  It is entirely possible. I have seen people set the sound to some weird levels in cars...

Also, as the wise one says. Eliminate the obvious/easy first.
