How can you sniff it?

Can't get the gas out without part dismantling

Don't they have little bleed valves at the "max fill" level of the tank any more? The (only) LPG system that I'm familiar with has - but that's pretty ancient, admittedly! Thinking about it, that would have to be boxed in and vented to outside the vehicle anyway, so not accessible to the copper by the roadside.

Hmmm. I must admit that losing half my boot does look like less and less of a problem the more I think about the cost of petrol.

There not likely to hike LPG tax as its a common heating fuel in the Uk......and suddenly wacking a tax on home owners realy wont go down well.

It doesn't stop them doing a "red diesel" though. Fuel duty is dependant upon the end use and it wouldn't be difficult to add a trace chemical to LPG supplied for heating that could be picked up by sniffing LPG from a vehicle. Likely to require too much planning for this government to contemplate, but not impossible.

True. They'll wait until the pickings are rich enough then they'll strike.

Then again, I said that 7 years ago when I last considered it and it hasn't happened.

Local Morrisons was still at 95.9 this morning. Everywhere else the wrong side of a quid :o

Now, about those LPG conversions...

True. There's not a lot to be achieved by getting it going now if that's the final aim.

Before you start putting bits into the new car it'd be worth lining up someone who'd be prepared to certify it and reading up on all the rules and regs, and maybe discussing your intentions with them because there are bound to be loads of do's and don'ts.

I'm sure it can't be that hard to get it running, but watch it doesn't go lean and backfire, as that can be nasty with a mixer.

SGI would likely have some kind of fuel map to fill in - and that I can do :y

Or, at least, I have, with Petrol.

I would have thought they could self-learn most of it from the Lambda sensor outputs, TBH, but I have no practical experience of them. Martin to the forum, please!

Could it be that someone has tweaked up the adjustments to make it run while fubar and they're now wrong?

.. but I know nothing about setting them up.

At least you've got a Post Office. They closed ours while we were on holiday and they now have a cupboard in the corner of WH Smith. Mate went to get his tax last week and they had lost the keys to the Post Office bit ::) Eventually they found them and said they ought to get a 2nd one cut and leave it under the door mat  :o

I've done it online for the last few years. It was a total PITA when some of my MOT and insurance records weren't electronic but now they are, it's fine. (after one total farce of a computerised MOT for the Westfield where the whole garage ground to a halt for 3 days at the mercy of a crappy PC with an analogue dial-up modem link - remember those?)

Ahh, actually....

Registered before 01/03/2001 : £180
After this it's band "F" : £205
After 23/03/06 :  You really don't want a 3.0 / 3.2 :o

I have a feeling my tax was 190 for 12 months in January.

Omegas were all produced before the "Gas Guzzler" band came in, so they should fall in the band below that, which actually has some pretty mundane cars at its' bottom end.

If my mobile phone were taking enough juice to make a significant difference to the fuel consumption of a 3.2 litre engine - or a 32 CC engine, for that matter, I'd be in the next county wrapping myself in bacofoil.

What cretins do they employ to write this drivel? >:(

Spotted on the DVLA web site advice for "Greener Driving":

air conditioning and other on-board electrical devices (like mobile phone chargers) increase fuel consumption, so only use them when necessary

So, exactly how many MPG will my mobile phone charger lose me?

Thomas the tank engine

 ;D ;D ;D

they've changed the theme tune to thomas the tank engine, i'm not at all pleased

Yeh, and the fatty controller has put on a bit of weight also. toot, toot

 ;D ;D ;D

A mate of mine works for the local preserved railway. He was very excited about a year ago because they had a volunteer who would make a great fat controller.

Regrettably the tailor who makes their uniforms informed them that he could only cope with up to a 60" waist measurement :o

Oh, and for me it's got to be either bullitt or the italian job :-/

I'm fascinated by these sites. Images look about 6-7 years old IMO. They are still building half of my road.

A few gliders waiting to take off http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.188319&lon=-1.035709&z=20&r=0&src=msl maybe I'm in one of them?

Grenham Common still just about resembles an airfield. http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.377777&lon=-1.278889&z=15.2&r=0&src=msl They have taken the tarmac off the runway but not ripped up the hardcore yet.

Makes me want to start mowing the year into my lawn or painting it on my roof so I can work out when the next lot get taken  ;D
