I haven't used a gas barbecue in years,bloody hated them although very quick,still prefer good old charcoal :y

To get the best from a proper gas BBQ, it still needs a good 40mins to warm up.  But 99% of gas BBQs are just gas grills.

Lava rock? Sounds like it's not a barbecue but an outdoor gas oven. If so, bin it and either get a barbecue or use the indoor oven. ;)

Out door gas oven yup, for camping trips. While I agree BBQ food via charcoal tastes better, this is bit more practical when out and about.

Then you need one of these. As demonstrated groaning with the strain of copious quantities of Lard at several lakes / newent meets, IIRC:

Thinking about it, I don't have a gas bottle for it any more. I have a bigger one for main BBQ in the garden, but the connection is not the same. Might look at a new grill, which takes same connector as one in the garden so I can share the gas bottle between them.

Just put a new regulator on the rusty one? They're available online for a tenner..
