Did a run to Durham last year. My average speed was 68mph over 4 hours which included a stop off in a town.
Averaging 70mph.  What happened to the laid back useless student of yesteryear ;D

:y

No point going slow when you get this kind of economy at high speed cruising.  :D

Not bad for a 3.0 petrol

Mm my 1.6 is petrol

1.6T petrol was never fitted in the Zafira C in the UK. Europe had it though.

So 2013 year could be a B and not the C Tourer version. Suspect it is the B as the C did not get the 1.6 engine till later.

Wife has a 2016 1.4T SE Auto and it’s perfect the school run. It’s smooth, silent and decent enough on fuel on a run. Can see 40 mpg. Suffers in town though.

Engines in the C are:

1.8 petrol
1.4T petrol
1.6 diesel (adblue)
2.0 diesel 138 bhp
2.0 diesel 165 bhp
2.0 diesel 170 bhp (adblue)

Depends what kind of driving he does, town only? Get the 1.4T.

If bigger miles, my choice is the 165bhp diesel. Has enough grunt and no adblue junk.
2.0

Do need a good bit of power sometimes ALWAYS.
Fixed that for you, student ;D

I know the Zafira is a better load lugger, but a decent sized saloon is needed on longer runs.  And, in fairness, I bet there is little difference in economy on that run, as the silly little 1.4 with its pathetic little turbo is a bit of a gas guzzler when pushed and dragging a full car along.

Yeah about the same high 30’s average suspect I could have nudged near 40 being sensible.

Planned to take MrsT’s Zafia Tourer to Wales to visit the in-laws this Easter, washed the car, vacuumed it, loaded the it, luggage kids etc. Go to start it, hummmm a miss-fire. If cleared on a restart, but decided not to risk it. First time it’s given us an issue.

Not to bother, unload and all piled in my BMW 435i, we could all fit which was great. Vindicated my choice to go for this over a m235i 2 door I was considering.

Had a much nicer drive, normally have little to no power in the 1.4T. But 3.0 in the beemer and 300+ horses, yes please!

That said the Zafira is well suited to the school run. (With that power) Which is where it may stay.

Might have to use the BMW more often  for the Welsh runs :D
Would imagine that the fuel bill was a tad higher.  ;)

Actually, no! One of the reasons I sourced an N55 power plant. Mixed A roads, plenty of “lane 3” motorway speeds. Averaged 36mpg on arrival.

Not bad for a 3.0 petrol.

Did a run to Durham last year. My average speed was 68mph over 4 hours which included a stop off in a town. 38mpg.  :D

Will add, there is one junction off the A303 which has short slip and it’s a long climb.

The Zafira would barely make progress up it, although it’s enough. 300 horses though and a full car, powered up it no sweat. (While making a great sound)

Do need a good bit of power sometimes.

Bought the 435i in November 2022, so far spent £510. Big bulk of that is £399 on a gearbox service. £111 on an Opie oils service pack in the summer of '23. (oil, filters, pollen, air)

Will be a little more this year, trying to shred through the run flats currently fitted.

MrsT's Zafira has been very reliable, less £100 year engine service bits. Had 2 new tyres last year, first time in our ownership. That said these EV salary schemes do look temping considering all she does is school runs.

Quite like the new Volvo EX30 and quite reasonable on the scheme as well.

But I did the sensible thing and throw a shed load more of salary on the pension.

As a newly converted BMW fan, I could recommend the F31 Estate. But go for the larger 6 cylinder engine. Mostly diesels around, very few petrols in the Saloon/Estate.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202312014459794?sort=mileage&twcs=true&advertising-location=at_cars&body-type=Estate&make=BMW&maximum-mileage=80000&minimum-badge-engine-size=3.0&model=3%20Series&page=3&postcode=tw75qd&price-from=13000&price-to=17000&radius=1500&fromsra

313 BHP and presumably plenty of derv torque.

Exhausts look like a petrol car to my eyes.

F Series, only 35i and 40i petrols had twins either side of the number plate (from the factory)

Didn't like it enough to part with 14 grand. It was clean and tidy but very ordinary.

I'm getting very picky in my old age, probably because I know my next one will probably be my last one.

I'm looking for something that probably doesn't exist.

What are your requirements?

Quick Google suggests Powershift was started to be phased out in 2018, not sure the replacement name. But that Mondeo would have the older box, big enough concern for me as S-Max was crossed off the list for a MrsT mummy bus.

Back to my original quest. Going to look at this tomorrow:

https://www.carshop.co.uk/used-car/FORD/MONDEO/NK68YFH

Do a search on Ford Powershift gearboxes, as when looking at S-Max for MrsT most of the forums said the Powershift boxes woeful and easily fail.
