ok i still have a rear light problem which i thought was fixed.The display tells me i have a rear headlight fault and when i check the back i have no light.When i tap the lens on the outside it works again .Have cleaned all the contacts and tightened up the contacts for the bulb.It worked for awhile then hey presto the fault display came up again.Is it just me or are the electrics on omegas a bit fragile.
Please help

Hi ya
A bit of a problem.The rear o/s lights on my omega estate are playing up.The brake light fails to come on at times and will work if i wiggle the bulb then will fail again.Also the rear light will also fail but comes back on if i tap the lens.I have tried cleaning the contacts but no difference.Any ideas more than welcome.

Driving home last night a warning light suddenly came up on the dash.The car was and still is running fine.When i checked the manual it said this light was for an electrical/immobiliser problem and would go into limp home mode.The immobiliser works fine no limp home mode and so far no electrical problems.
Can anyone suggest why has this light decided to come on,could it be a problem yet to develop or is it just there to annoy me.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / poor reception

Hello just new to the site and was wondering if anyone could help  me.I have a 2001 Omega estate fitted with a CDR 2005 stereo. The problem is the reception is very poor only really picking up radio 1 and unable to pick up any others. I have changed the roof mounted aerial but no difference in quality. Any suggestions please.

Omega General Help / Rear shocks

Hi everyone

I will be shortly replacing the shocks on the rear of my Omega estate and was wondering where the top of the shocks can be found in the boot. It is different from the saloon and i can't seem to find the tops. Am i right in thinking that they are in the spare wheel well and how do you acess them.

Omega General Help / Rear Wiper

For a change a quick easy question.
The rear wiper is having trouble clearing the rear screen in the middle of the sweep on the estate. It is all working ok with a new blade on it but seems to lose contact in the middle. Is this just a question of bending the arm slightly or is the spring to weak.

Omega General Help / Therostat Housing

After a day spent trying to remove and replace the seal on the Thermo housing it has resulted in the car now of the road due to a broken flange on the housing unit. How can you change the seal on the housing if you are unable to turn the housing over as it keeps fouling on the engine block to locate the seal in the recess. Undid the flexible hose but there is a bracket theat fouls on dipstick. Are you able to remove the housing unit from the metal pipe and if so how, since it will be surely stuck on from all the heat etc. I need ideas as the car is needed. Ordering a new housing unit,seal and thermostat on Monday so will hopefully get it fixed next week.

Omega General Help / Torque setting

Getting a ticking noise from the engine and i am thinking the problem could be a leaky manifold. Since i am doing some work on the car this weekend i would like to torque up the bolts on the manifold to try and cure the leak. Does anyone know the correct torque settings please.

Omega General Help / Auto lever jamming

Hello all
When trying to get my car out of park and into drive every now and then it will not move even thou i have my foot on the brake . I have to lift the trim from around the base and manually move the lever to enable the autobox to select. Now from what i can see there is a solenoid at the base which seems to push the lever out of the way to enable gear selection. It is my guess that this is what is causing the problem. Has anyone replaced this and how difficult a job is it. :-?

Omega General Help / Coolant leak

Ok people i need your help please
Going to try and fix my coolant leak this weekend but have to first establish where it is coming from so i can get the parts. The problem is i need to get the parts and fix it at the same time and get the car back on the road. No leak from the top or radiator but definately a leak from below under the Plenum chamber. Have been told it may be the thermo seal. Any hints at what it may be

My alarm keeps going off randomly and i have to unlock and lock the doors to make it stop. Got so bad last night that i left the car unlocked so as not to upsett the neighbours. Any advice please

Omega General Help / Rear Tailgate wiper

Hi ya all
I have an estate and a small amount of rust has appeared under the rear wiper blade connection. To get to it i have to remove the black D shaped plastic shrouding covering the assembly which covers part of the glass and metal. Any idea how this comes off. Is it just clipped on :-?

Omega General Help / Misfiring and lack of performance

Thought this problem had gone away but it is back. Did the pedal test when i got home after noticing the car was down on power and misfiring.
The following codes came up

0650 MI control circut high instrument :-?
0100 Mass or volume circut High or low. Just recentley fitted a new MAF sensor :-/
0170- 0173 Fuel trim malfunction banks 1 and 2
0300 Multiple cylinder misfire
0305 Cylinder 5 misfire

What is wrong with my car in layman terms please as still learning

Omega General Help / Slight idling problem

Hi
My 2.6 is slightly low on power and idling a bit rough. The backbox needs replacing as the pipe is almost falling off.Would this cause the rough idling as the sensor may be detecting incorrect exhaust flow and trying to compensate. Replacing the backbox tommorrow but would like to know if this may be the cause. No faults are showing on the display.
