Xenon light pulsing
« on: 22 November 2010, 22:50:14 »

hi all, one of my xenon lights has a very slight 'pulse' going on. You cant see it when looking at the light but the edge of the beam appears to pulse slightly when reflected on the car in front. Just on the off-side.

Is it possible the bulb is on the way out?

ta.

Not seen that personally .... when mine started to fail the light went decidedly "pink"  (and DLK was nowhere in sight !!)

As Entwood says, when the bulb is failing it tends to turn a 'Darth' colour, or AN Other colour.

I suspect the Ballast Pack is playing up.

Might be worth changing the bulbs left to right and seeing if it still has the problem before going to (un)necessary expense.

Just be sure not to get killed by high voltage or burned by high heat.  :y

My off side headlight seems to be move up and down of its accord. Most noticeable when stationary behind a van or the like. Mine did it for quite awhile and then suddenly stopped. No idea why sorry.

thanks guys, I'm especially keen on the "suddely stop" theory. I'm not getting any funny colours anyway.

Will make a valid attempt not to die, but i'll let you know if I do!

Sorry, not very clear there was I. What I meant to say was the fault has "dissapeared" by itself. As mine caused no problems whilst driving, I tended to ignore it, but I did check it when I pulled up behind every vehicle or when parking. It would do it all by itself, just pulse up and down. And then one day, it stopped doing it and has behaved itself for at least 6-8 weeks now. I still check it every time I pull up to something but still good.
