Hi! would any body happen to know the ratings of the l e d's used in the switchgear for general illumination. I have a few switches which have gone faulty would like to repair if I can. thanks in advance Tom. :y

oh, and they are bulbs, not leds

No, they are led's wired into the circuit boards on the light switch etc. but thanks Tom.

97 model light switch control unit it has a number of led's wired on the circuit board for illumumination.

The light assembly has a conventioal bulb in it plus a couple of LED's for the fog light switch illumination.

Sadly, the idiot who designed the LED illumination was not to hot as he placed two LED's in parralel witha  single current limiting resistor so if one LED fails the the other quickly follows due to being exposed to double the current.

Sadly, he also did not appreciate tha fact that LED's do not like reverse voltage and tend to age quickly when connected to an automotive supply with all its associated transients! (you should put a normal diode in series with LED's on automotive applications).

So, hence they fail.

Last time I looked and from memory they were surface mount of this variety.....



But I could be wrong as its been a while!
