A3 is a newer specification than A2, and superior.

It's a thinner oil, of course, but a RV8 will be fine on 40 visc.

VX Semi will be fine in a Rover V8, as will the coolant. Just give it a good flush beforehand to get rid of any old coolant.

I just contacted Direct line.

The third party (lady that hit me) has admitted liability in full.

So this goes down as a "non fault claim".

The Omega is going into the VX dealer for new bumper next week  :D

I'm aching like mad... but I think that's more to do with torquing up 16 V6 head bolts ;D

I won't be claiming for any injury..... :)

does a non fault claim mean you dont lose your own no claims then?

yep  :y
But the annoying bit is you still have to declare your accident to your insurance componies when you ring around for quotes >:(

does that mean it still affects your price?

My insurance went up by 100 quid when I mentioned 2 non fault claims. One didn't even involve my insurer as it was a claim on 3rd party liability insurance when a contractor dropped a ladder on my bonnet.  >:(

They claimed 2 "incidents", regardless of fault, indicates I'm "at risk". rather stupid thing was the ladder incident was because I parked under a CCTV installation which a muppet came to service as I was parked - hence the ladder. I asked them if they would prefer me to park well away from such things in future to prevent myself being "at risk" but didn't get an answer. >:(

Insurance companies are almost at the top of my "batsrad scale". Just under Gordon himself.

If it's been standing for a while maybe the bearings in the idlers dried out.

Lucky the cam belt didn't let go, on the bright side.

Not in our house, they haven't. '

Bl00dy right too!

..and cooked one of my favourites last night. Macaroni cheese. With about half a pound of mature cheddar, a knob of butter, a pint of milk and a shedload of Pasta. :-* Someone's got to keep the balance of calories level.

Class!

There's a point in there somewhere, though.

Yeah, me too. I guess it has a GPS and a GSM link to the outside world. If they became commonplace it would deter a lot of car crime, I guess, so some good could come out of it. :-/

You can guarantee that the first thing they'll do if you have an accident is look at the data.... One hopes that they wouldn't put too much weight on  a very limited view of what was going on.

Can they track the car if it's reported stolen?

Piece of Tin Foil over the GPS antenna then! for cheaper monthly payments?

I can do better than that. I've got a GPS simulator sitting on my bench at the moment (long story). It's loaded with a scenario to simulate someone standing in the middle of Tokyo in the year 2002 at the moment. That'd confuse 'em!

I'd want to know who they sell the data to  :o  Not that it could incriminate me or anything  :-X

.. and is there a cap on what they could charge in a month or can they arbitrarily charge what they like?

Never driven one, just going on what I've heard. Mata of mine has got one, doesn't sound too noisy at all

Maybe this one was cold - or knackered.

You all want to buy astras, I know you do. :P

careful or someone will; hunt you down and stick a Ford badge on your motor....   ;D

Wouldn't mind a nice mondeo TDCi  :y

Is there such a thing?

Had one sitting behind me at a junction this morning (in the westfield, so his engine was about 4 feet behind my ear). Couldn't work out where the death rattle was coming from. Made me check my oil pressure damn quick and give the throttle a blip just in case. Then I realised it was the car behind. I hope they've got a lot of sound deadening material to stop it getting inside!

Have been in a few is200s but they feel very cramped and plasticky compared to an Omega. Correct wheels driven perhaps but didn't really float my boat.

Certainly would need the 3 litre engine [smiley=evil.gif]

With the loose change jangling in pocket i am juggline a few ideas...

Like the 3 litre Diesel 3 & 5 series
Toying with 02 onwards 4.4 Range Rover - BMW Engine.

and after watching one accelerate at the weekend...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290201001217&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D290201001217%26fvi%3D1

Correct wheel drive, non rover engine and V8 Power...

Trouble is i`ll probably go sensible, run the omega another year and whack a huge chunk off the mortgage  :-/ :( ..then go Monaro ;D

Ooh, don't let TheBoy see that  :o
