New Oven Time
« on: 24 November 2015, 19:03:55 »

Looks very likely Im going to be out shopping for a new oven in a day or 2.

What makes do people love / hate at the moment?

Should be looking in the £500+ range D&G Payout permitting.

Which one is the oven? Is that the tool for changing headlight adjusters?

6 months ago we bought a new oven and its a Samsung.
its a single oven  but you  get a plate with that divides it into 2 so you can cook your roast at one temp and your pudding at another temp.
well happy so far.

Love it. These types of thread can go longer than the 'Bus Thread' and faster than the '0 -60 Thread' !  ;D

I'd go for Neff.  lots of ovens come with fancy programs and all that crap but all you do is dial a temperature and chuck something in it.  So go for bottom of the range Neff: great quality, well insulated, cheap to run. etc

Stoves: expensive but run of the mill stuff

hotpoint/indeshit - steer clear of  as never had good experience there

Not had an oven/cooker for more than 10yrs now and don't miss having one.Microwave/oven combo does very nicely for Sunday roasts etc.deep fat fryer for chips and such,a flat plate/griddle for bacon eggs and other fried stuff. An electric wok for the Chinese type stuff and a microwave safe steamer takes care of all cooking needs. :y

We replaced a Smeg range with two Bosch single combination ovens and a good sized 5 burner hob about four years ago... Haven't looked back :y

For the record this to to replace an electrolux oven (of higher spec that I would ever have bought) that came cheap with the kitchen about 6 years ago.
last week I turned it off, but it decided to go as hot as it could, almost catching fire - whole back of the oven glowing red!
Anyway it needs virtually everything replacing except control panel, door and shelves! so expect it to be written off and vouchers issued for a replacement from Domestic and General.
Want something similar to replace it, main feature request being the pyrolytic cleaning, love it!

Indeed, not heard good on Bosch, or hotpoint, the electrolux has had more than its share of breakdowns - been glad of the maint contract.

Be interested to look at a Miele, not head a lot about them in ovens....

Funnily enough, we had an Electrolux that kept going into furnace mode. I wasted ages moaning about the standard of catering before getting my thermocouple out and checking the temperature. Most things don't come out that well when the oven's at 350 degrees C and rising. ::)
