Tumble dryer replacement?
« on: 28 January 2016, 15:40:30 »

We have a 4 year old hotpoint dryer which is part of the current recall

Hotpoint have mailed saying they will probably get round to us in March. Or I can buy a new dryer. £200 worth give or take for £59 delivered. (They take away the old one as part of this obviously)

Question is. Do I replace at the bargain price or do I take a chance on longer life.

Anyone else had the offer?  What have you decided?

Unless your very lucky, I cant see the old one lasting past 5 years without problems so i'd go for a new one and use the cash saved to up the warranty  :y

Very much tempted for the new. Does go against the grain replacing before its dead though.

Slightly off topic...I have just checked our serial numbers....and luckily we are not on the problem list.
They do say, its a very very small risk. If you don't leave it unattended, or on at night, is it not worth keeping it ? I suppose its a case of if you want to shell out money :-\
I don't know how long these things last, I suppose its down to usage.
Mind you, just re read your post, and for £59 for a brand new one (if spec is ok) sounds too good to miss :y

Misread...thought £59 was just for delivery :-[

I'll wager you send 'Mrs The Boy' out in the pissing rain to hang the clothes on the line.

Good man. ;D

Its been a bad run, but in fairness, theres nothing wrong with this other than a design flaw

I bet thats the difference - newish - free swap out, older - you pay, probably increasing the older it gets.
Yes they have detailed the model, choice of condensing, or vented, vented is basic, but what do you really need other than timer and heat mode.  Currenti one is all singing all dancing, but we only use the timer, the rest aint worth bothering with.

As a point of interest, we always use ours on low heat, and have had this cheap Creda for about 15 years. :y
