General Discussion Area / Anyone fancy a very cheap Omega?

Misfire but "garage" can't diagnose it because there is no fault code stored??  ::)

Offer £600, take a DIS pack (and a set of leads) with you and away you go! :)

One of the very few times I have a bet on the horses.

My knowledge of them stretches as far as knowing how to ride them (many years ago).
In the racing world it is non existant.

Just thought I would run a quick thred to see what others were having a flutter on, and see if any of us get it right?

Last time I did was bl**dy years ago!  :(

Anyway I have bet on the following.

Hedgehunter. £5 win @ 12/1
Longshanks. £5 win @ 20/1
Ballycassidy £5 e/w @ 40/1 (odds taken on all).

Well time has come to start removing parts from Elite estate to sell (bank balance is not good!)

Mr McB came round this morning and we got to work. :)

This is the car in its "before" state...

And this was it 90 minutes later! (Fin had to leave about 3pm and I contineud until 6pm (so tired forgot to take more pics!)

Still much to come off, so if you need something, drop me a PM and I'll see if I can assist.

But right now I have the following main bits for sale. You guys get first refusal before I list on ebay tomorrow evening.

Set of 3.0 cams in superb condition. See pics. £100 + £15 postage or collect (damn heavy).
Excellent upgrade for a 2.5 V6. Instant 17-20bhp! :D

Full (including doorcards and all 5 headrests) cream leather interior for an estate (rare!) Has come out of a 1996 car and is in excellent condition. Al electrics work as they should (drivers seat heats eventually). Being a 1996, no side airbags. Seats will be cleaned and treated with proper leather feed.
£125. Collection only.
Pics once I have removed (tomorrow night)

Right now, I am sore, tired, and want a beer!

This is fun though...  ;D

General Discussion Area / Got an MP3 player?
« on: 14 March 2007, 20:40:34 »
Yes?

Well do yourself a massive favour and go buy a pair of Sennheiser PX200's!!  :D

Bought a set recently based on the reviews I had read and recommendation from MaxV6. :)

In order to get the best out of them once they arrived I just plugged them into the PC sound system and left them running at moderate volume for approx 30 hours.

Now up to this point I had been using those god forsaken in ear things!  >:(

Plug these in instead and ohhh yesss!
Now these are not the really good Sennheisers, these are designed for smaller devices like mp3 players, but oh god they sound absolutely stunning (and go damn loud if you want!)!

Listening to god at work (Tiesto to the unitiated) is now an absolute joy once more. :)

They cost around £30 and I really cannot recommend them highly enough!

General Discussion Area / Here I go again...
« on: 02 March 2007, 22:30:27 »
Well I now have mmy elite estate parked up on the drive, awaiting collection by the insurance appointed garage!  >:(

Coming home tonight, just round the corner from home. Open T junction, nice clear view, nothing to my left and only one car a decent distance up the hill to my right, plenty of time.... or so I thought.

What I had not noticed was just how fast this muppet was coming down the hill!
Half way through manoevre I notice VERY rapidly approaching Focus!
Booted mine, and almost made it....
He hit my o/s/r quarter.

This was a 30mph residential road but this driver was clearly driving rather faster (45-50) so he was unable to slow down enough to avoid the collision. Bl**dy idiot!

Oh the fun and games of insuance, sensible courtesy car, decent settlement etc...again (I had another Omega written off 18 months ago when I was rear ended at 30mph sitting at traffic lights!)... I can hardly wait!  >:(

Both of us are fine, but I know my car will not see the road again.

On a lighter note. That is now 2 out of 3 admins who have had an accident recently.  ;D
Feeling twitchy TheBoy??  ;D

AA will never have an accident as a 2.2 never goes quick enough to damage anything!  ;)

General Discussion Area / MOT...
« on: 07 February 2007, 18:27:35 »
Ok. I am now in a REALLY bad mood!  >:( >:( >:( >:(

I just typed all this out, went to post, and promptly lost internet connection!!  >:(

MV6 failed on the following...

1. Nearside headlamps matched pair are incorrectly positioned.

2. Offside (high and not in focus) headlamps matched pair are incorrectly positioned.

3. Offside rear coil spring is incomplete.

4. Offisde front tyre tread depth below legal requirements of 1.6mm

5. Rear parking brake recording little or no effort.

Advisory on nearside front tyre wear too.

Right then....

1. Easy fix. Sort adjuster in n/s/f wheel arch.

2. Will be partly sorted by 1. But I also have moisture in the lens meaning replacement o/s HID unit!  >:(

3. I blame Mark and his "testing" of the suspension at the weekend!  ;D
Seriously though. Mark, can I borrow that good spring please? I just need it to get through the MOT.
I am replacing the whole setup very soon so no I have not lost my marbles in wanting to change 1 spring!

4. Change front tyres. I knew they were going to need doing soon so no great suprise.

5. Replace handbrake cable and give rear brakes a good service.

Nothing major (apart from potential cost of replacement HID unit! :o)), but of course now all this is required just as winter finally decided to arrive!!!  >:(

General Discussion Area / Anyone own an 810i?
« on: 11 February 2007, 07:25:17 »
I have been offered a Sony Ericsson W810i for not a lot.

Now, does anyone have this phone and do they have any comments?
NB:this excludes Jaime as the swear filter will go into overdrive as I mentioned Sony!  ;D

Reviews rate it very highly.
I am interested as it has an MP3 player and a decent camera which will be useful.
Most of the time though it will just be used as a phone

May seem a strange request, but I could do with the contact details of the company advertising the Bilstein shock kit for the Omega in the magazine.
Allegedly around £180 for all 4.

+50 posts for the first to supply the information!  ;)

Thanks

Dave

General Discussion Area / Another MOT looming...for the MV6 this time
« on: 02 February 2007, 09:57:20 »
But at least I feel a bit more confident about it now. :)

Last weekend I tackled the o/s exhaust manifold gasket as it had a bit of blow! ;)
Also there was a misfire issue and finding an air leak...

MUCH later the jobs were almost done....  :D

Changed plugs and leads. Easy enough except for no.6 pug that I could not get a plug socket on!  >:(
Something in the way so did everything but that.

Exhaust manifold...
Not fun, took an age, and the 2 small E11 bolts that attach the metal water pipe at the back of the engine are a complete  :-Xard to access (whatever Mark may say to the contrary! ;))

Afterwards, restart engine  and yay for quieter exhaust. :)
Boo for bl**dy misfire still there!  >:( >:(

Left until I could get Marks input last night.

Much poking last night resulted in plug changed :) but still an issue with the air leak.  :'(

So at 8.45pm off comes plenum, inlet bridge and the inlet....

And there was the culprit, accurately diagnosed by Mark and a bit of rubber tubing previously...

One of the orange gaskets had a piece missing!  :)

Replace gasket, refit, and restart!

Turn off damn quick!

Forgot to reconnect EGR flexi pipe and it was a little noisy for 9.25pm in a quiet cul de sac!  :-[

Restart again!

Vroom in a nice quiet smooth manner again! :D

Yet another superb piece of diagnosis and repair from the wise one!  :y

Drove home as it should last night with powwer and smoothness. :)

All I need to do now is find the air leak when it is cold (ICV rubber is my guess) as it was less than smooth this morning for the first couple of minutes.   :-?

My apologies I did not do a how to on the manifold gasket but the camera was with the other half!  ::)
My pennance for this will be to assist someone else with theirs sometime and do a guide then.

Now next thing is Tuesday and MOT time... :-/
