Fuel tank cover plate is probably rotten.

Acess plate in the boot floor :y

That sounds expensive, is it repairable or am I going to struggle for parts?

I've had 3 Omega estates in the past and never had a problem in this area, so not familiar with the set up.

Omega General Help / 2.2 dti fuel leak around diff area
« on: 17 January 2022, 15:20:50 »
Hi Guys

Hoping for a bit of advice please.
My 02 - 2.2 dti estate has suddenly developed a fuel leak. It is dripping off the rear diff only when the engine is running.

I haven't managed to get it off the ground yet to have a look, but wondered if the fuel lines run over the diff from the tank or does anyone have a diagram of the fuel line route.

TIA.

All identical except lenses... Replace as a pair if different to avoid fussy MoT/plod :y

Thanks for that.
Can you tell me when they changed please, so I can get a match.
It's bugging me I have to replace one though no fault of my own.
So changing both is something I would like to avoid  ;) :y

Omega General Help / Dti Fuel Pump Problem
« on: 16 May 2016, 14:58:32 »
Hi Guys

I wondered if someone could help me please with a some advice.

I have replaced my seized 2.2 dti engine with a good 2nd hand one I bought a while back.

Its a long story but.
We are having problems with the fuel pump on the replacement engine feeding fuel to the injectors and I have heard it is because of the security coding with the car and the replacement engine.

Is this the case and is there a way around it?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
 :y

Thanks in anticipation.

« on: 12 September 2014, 17:04:45 »

Hi Guys,
I have found another drawing that tells me some of the components names, for the above drawing.

But I am still struggling a bit. :(

1 - Vacuum Reservoir
2 - Vacuum Pump
3 - Vari tract intake manif, diaphragm unit
4 - EGR Solenoid Valve
5 - EGR Valve
6 - ?
7 - Boost Pressure Solenoid Valve
8 - Boost Pressure Control Valve
9 - ?
10 - ?

Can anyone help me with 6, 9, & 10 please.
Also if the connection colour code on the drawing a significant.

I'm getting a bit desperate to check they have been put back correctly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Gary  :y

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies.

I hope you don't think I'm thick, but I thought I knew a bit about these cars, however I cant see any difference in the size of the tubes. So I cant see which is large and small. :-\

Also I know which is the turbo, but I'm afraid I'm lost with all those other components you have named :(

I need to check it has all gone back correctly. I found this drawing in another post. Could someone possibly help me with the numbers please. I have also noticed some of the connections have a yellow mark on them?

Thanks Again, any help would be much appreciated.

Omega General Help / 2.2 Dti Vacuum Pipes
« on: 07 September 2014, 11:34:01 »
Hi Guys

Just hoping someone can help me please. I'm looking for a diagram of the vacuum pipes for 2.2 dti.

We have just finished replacing the engine with a good 2nd hand one I bought off Joff a couple of month ago.

It's a long story, but it is now in and running pretty good, it will run all day if not pushed.

However it seems a bit short on power and when accelerated hard the EML comes on and it drops into limp mode, until the engine is switched off and restarted.

We suspect a vacuum pipe has been put back incorrectly. I have had this problem nearly every time I have had jobs done on the dti, but usually I find a loose or disconnected vac pipe. :(

Any help would be very much appreciated. :y

So what happened to the engine  ??? Did you find out :o :o

Sorry for the late rely Joff.

The replacing of the engine, ended up taking a lot longer than expected. He could only do bits between jobs. But then again when its mates rates you cant complain. I have only just come back online ;)

Anyway we didn't strip down the old engine, but the top chain was so slack you could almost take the chain off the top sprocket. So it must have been the tensioner that gave way. :'(

Sorry Joff

By Bolt On's, I mean ancillaries like alternator, fuel pump etc, or is it a bare engine?

I don't know really never swapped a modern engine, last one I did was a mk2 Cortina 1600 :) back in the 70's :)

Just trying to way up what's involved. Advice would be appreciated. :y

Thanks for the advice guys :y

I suppose I'll have to see what they find this week.

The AA guy said there was a possibility the starter motor could have seized, but would that stop the engine mid flight?

Are they engaged with the flywheel all the time?

Joff. If its the worst how much would you want for the dti engine and does it come with all the bolt on's?

Hi Guys

I am in need of some advice please.

Has anyone had or heard of a dti 2.2 chain to go?

On Friday my trusty steed an 03 which has done 230k suddenly crunched, engine stopped all dash lights came on. I quickly pushed in the clutch and coasted to the side. The AA arrived asked me to try and turn over the engine out of and then in gear.

Against my better judgement I carried this out and just heard a clunk with no turnover of the engine. I've had the car moved to a garage and as it was late Friday afternoon it won't be looked at until Monday.

I suspect the chain has gone, I maybe grasping at straws, but could it be anything else?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers Gary
