Omega General Help / Crank sensor

Having a problem with starting my pride and joy. Usually occurs after a short stop. Get the emissions/exhaust icon up on the dash - goes out after a few more starts. After reading several issues in this excellent forum I'm thinking on the lines of the crank sensor. Can you please advise on location etc and proceedure for the change of. Here's hoping that it is a quick and easy job as I will be doing it in the drive - Brrrrrr cold out there now!!!

Omega General Help / Windscreen Wiper Stalk

Hi guys - My wiper stalk has delayed wipe function with a variable speed knob, wich has jammed. I have been onto Lea Valley Motors but they say that there are 2 types of stalk and that there should be a label on it with 2 letters. This is not present. Can anybody supply a part number for me so I can get a replacement.

Omega General Help / Spark Plugs

Back again - having spent the last few months reading through all the brillians info on this site. Thought I'd do a bit of maintenance and seeing the only thing I haven't done so far is change the spark plugs - was done when I bought the car 9 months ago. Horror of horrors plugs 2 & 3 absolutley drenched in oil. Had no problems starting - but I have always thought the power was a bit low. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Omega General Help / Engine Management

Hi everyone - once again need alittle help. The engine management icon has appeared on the dashboard. It did show a few weeks ago but then disappeared after a couple of days. It has now come back and looks as if it is here to stay. I'm only doing short journeys about 5 miles to work and 5 back - not been on a long run for a while.I would like to know if it pointing to something serious. The curious thing when the light is on the car seems to run better and I'm definitly getting a slightly better mpg. Any ideas!

Omega General Help / Central Locking

Help Guys Please!
My Pride and joy has developed fault . The central locking has stopped operating on the drivers door. Sometimes the button moves part of the way but usually not enough to either lock or unlock the door. All the other doors and boot work OK

This in turn has led me to discover that if i just use the key to lock the door, works fine except for unlocking - it unlocks the doors buy does not disable the alarm - neighbours don't like being wakened at 0530

I must admit I have not investigated inside the door panel as due to the cold weather - no garage. If its just a case of replacing a unit can I order it from my local VX dealer??

Omega General Help / Coolant Loss

  Thought things were going too well. Started loosing coolant. Done approx 500 miles and have had to put in nearly 2 pints - cannot see any leaks and the oil seems OK - any ideas. Need to get it sorted before winter sets in. would appreciate any help.

Thank you everyone who offered help/advice on this project. I have rang Leavalley and purchased NEW headlight stalk with Cruise Buttons for £38 incl delivery - I'm well pleased. Should be arriving by Friday - will let you all know how it went

Omega General Help / Fog & Spot Lamps

Spoke too soon - just got the cruise sorted - having a bit of a clean up and noticed that my ns fog light is out . How do you change the bulbs - anyone know please :question, before I destroy or scratch the painwork, cannot see any screws - my old one had a cover over that had to be unbolted and the holder was released from this when you took it out. I've looked all around and cannot see any clips or anything??? :-/

Can anyone advise on how to replace the Repeater and Front Fog light bulbsbulbs on my Omega 2.2 CD (2001). Not needing replacement at the moment (or have I spoke too soon) but you never know.

Hello everyone. Just got an Omega 2.2 CD auto Y Reg. Been try for years to get another after my beloved 2.5 V6 L Reg gave up the ghost. Can I ask if the Cruise up grade will work on my model - posteed by "The boy"

Looking forward to a new era of motoring and making new friends through the Forum

Thank you every one for the warm welcome - I feel at home already. I have, already found some very valuable information in the forum, and I'm going to go ahead with the cruise upgrade if I can find a new stalk - also am going to try and get a new windscreen wiper stalk because the intermitant wheel is stuck.

Can I ask please (as I have as yet not touched anything under the bonnet) what size spark plug socket is required for my model.

General Discussion Area / Web Page Improvements

Hi Guys
Great new layout - congrats it looks great and works well. I have 2 little niddles and I hope you will take then on board!
1) When going through the postings I find that after returning to the main page I loose track of where I am. Can it be possible that the subject remains highlighted on return so you can immediately see where you got to on the main page.
2) The page numbers - can they be a bit bigger and more accentuated when accessed. I'm getting on in years and eye sight not as it was and I'm having difficulty seeing which page number is selected.

I'm a newbie and have posted a few messages. What I would like to know is why are some "new" messages flagged as "new" and others are not. Have I missed an icon somewhere. I think this is a very useful option and would like to be able to use it.
