belt cover
« on: 28 May 2015, 16:24:10 »

Hi
have a 2001 v6 2.6 petrol and was wondering if the belt and pullies should be behind a cover. I can see all pullies and belt. is this correct. just had 80,000 mile service and dont remember if it was all covered or not

Thanks

Steve

There should be a cambelt cover, you shouldn't be able to see the 4 cam pulleys or the cambelt tensioner/roller.

You should be able to see the Aux belt which drives alternator, water pump, power steering pump and AC (if fitted)

EDIT

I tried to find a pic in the guides, but couldn't find one quickly. In this picture, under the grey MultiRam at the front of the engine, you can see a black cover at a diagonal away from the throttle bodies. This is the cover (it's black).

You are welcome, if memory serves me, you can get one from an Omega or a Vectra. The Vectra one has 3 more holes in it, that you won't use. But it will fit and work.

Just to make things a bit more awkward, there are 2 different cambelt covers, and they're not directly interchangeable. I'm sure you can imagine how I discovered that!
