I confess to having never removed a PFL centre console before, but I'm surprised that you can't get at the plugs without resorting to taking the whole thing out. Have you experiemented with removing the wood trim in the centre console. Seem to remember this affords you a decent view of inside the console, and hopefully the plugs n sockets. Pull up the gear lever gaiter to reveal screws and the rest is easy, as I recall.  :) Might not help, but it's a couple of screws to find out.

No doubt be proven wrong by someone, but when you get the wood trim out you can get to a fair amount under the console, so fingers bruised crossed for you .  :)
