General Discussion Area / Trump arrest.
« on: 02 April 2023, 00:28:46 »
It was leaked last week that he was likely to face arrest.
The most interesting thing to me over this so far was Nancy Pelosi,s statement about it last week.
"He is entitled to a trial, so he can try and prove his innocence".
I find that possibly the most breathtaking statement I have ever heard from someone who was until very recently, a very senior politician in the country which is supposed to be the chief defender of freedom and democracy in the world.  :o

General Discussion Area / Villeneuve Pironi.
« on: 25 March 2023, 18:22:33 »
SKY Documentaries have made a full length film about Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Proni and the story of what happened to them. Ive just watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it, although it brought back a lot of bad memories and emotions from that terrible 1982 season.
Posted a link below. Hope it still works, and SKY havent taken it down. ::)

I dont care how much they tried to balance things out in the film. Pironi was a treacherous French shit. End of.

General Discussion Area / Apple I.D.
« on: 08 March 2023, 12:54:35 »
Keep getting messages on my iphone that my cloud is full blah blah.
Was going to login and clear it out rather than upgrade to more storage as they keep asking me to do.
Problem is, I have no idea what my Apple ID is.I have managed to reset the password but still need the ID (username).
I think I created it when I  first got an ipod about 20 years ago and havent used it since.
When I got to their ID recovery page the first thing I was asked to do to proceed any further was sign in using my ID. ffs !
Any Apple users know how to go about this please ?  ::)

The top Civil Servant who led the partygate enquiry into Boris and his buddies, and ultimately brought about his downfall has resigned from her job.
She has resigned so she can take up a new job - Chief of staff to Kier Starmer. Basically to prepare him and his shadow cabinet for Government.
A conspiracy ? Nah, this is Britain. We dont have things like that happen here.  ::)
Boris was still an idiot for putting himself in the position where they could bring him down though, just for the sake of a glass or two of fizz.

General Discussion Area / Bye Bye Krankie !

She is resigning !  ;D :y ;D

Maybe she knows she has blown all credibility over the Women with penises in Womens prisons, or there is a big scandal she wants to keep the lid on.
Who cares. Good riddance to the hateful wee witch.

General Car Chat / Replacing bonded side windows.
« on: 01 February 2023, 22:58:51 »
Son has a MK7 Civic and one of his side windows has suddenly developed a crack.
Im pretty sure its bonded to the body, and Autoglass have quoted £600 to replace it !  :o
Can probably got the glass from an ebay breaker for around £30, but not sure about adhesive.
Tiger Seal springs to mind, but probably to slow in going off, so may be better to get the stuff they use for windscreens.
Taking the old glass out I think is a case of wear welding gauntlets and use wire (maybe a guitar string or similar) to cut through the sealant. Took an Omega windscreen out with Zirk once using a similar technique.
Anyone done anything similar ?

Ta.

General Car Chat / Stud removal
« on: 30 October 2022, 12:59:09 »
No not how to drag Opti off his sil.  :D
Ive bit the bullet and bought a new camshaft for Pierre. Not OEM obviously.
The new one has a threaded hole where a stud screws into, which the cambelt pulley then attaches to with a nut.
The old cam has said stud screwed into it.
It doesnt just wind out though.
The only way I know how to remove it would be to use two nuts tightened against one another and then wind it out against the inside one.
Its a very fine thread though and I dont have a suitable nut among all my spares, and cant even find one among the hundreds of nuts in the workshop at work,
Any ideas on how to remove it without wrecking the thread please ?

General Discussion Area / Kwasi (Reagan) Karteng
« on: 23 September 2022, 13:54:20 »
For the first time in a long time a Conservative Govt. is acting like a Conservative Government.
Kwasi,s fiscal statement was straight from the Reagan book on economics.
Cut taxes and promote growth in the economy. No-one has been brave enough to take this gamble for a very long time.
I hope it works.  :y

General Discussion Area / "Ebay" text messages.
« on: 20 September 2022, 15:42:07 »
Had lots of texts over the last few days, supposedly from ebay.
"Your security code is xxxxxx. It expires in 15 minutes. Do not share this with anyone.
I assume its some kind of attempted scam. My ebay account is working as normal.
Anyone else had this ?

Ive had approx 50 of them in the last three days. Just changed my password for peace of mind. Dont know if that might help stop the texts. Will see what happens.

General Discussion Area / Energy price cap.
« on: 26 August 2022, 10:34:34 »
Just gone up by 80% (again) to over£3500. And is expected to take another massive hike at the start of Winter !
I have heard TV commentators for years rolling out the old cliche about people having to choose between heating and eating and never really bought into it.
Few if any in this country have genuinely had to make that choice imo.
Now though, I can see that people will have to start making that choice. Even people who do full time jobs, but dont earn a great deal of money.
People who were paying £100 per month last year will be paying £100 per week, or more, by the start of next year.
Can it really carry on like this ?
Perhaps the Govt need to decide that it is actually an emergency situation caused to a large extent by the war in Ukraine, and use even more borrowing to limit bills to affordable levels ?  :-\
If they have any kind of backbone whatsoever, the very least they should do is suspend the green levy until some normality returns to the energy market.
I saw a prediction yesterday of inflation hitting 18% early next year.
With all and sundry going out on strike at the moment, we have suddenly returned to the 1970,s.
For this to happen under a Tory Govt. with a huge majority is shameful.
Those of us old enough to remember how the chaos of the 1970,s was cured by a Tory Govt. with a huge majority can only look at this lot and despair.
