Title: (NBattery Flattened twice.o subject)
Post by: Frank Green on 25 October 2017, 13:12:38

Hi all, I wonder if anybody could help?
I have had an Omega CD 2.5 (1999) for seven years and very happy with it too!
6 months ago,  though,  I found the  battery was flat and the indicator switch was on. So the first question is........Can the battery go flat with the switch on and ignition off?
More recently I found the battery flat again, called out the RAC who sold me an RAC battery. Three weeks ago THAT battery went flat. The RAC give me another battery (no charge) that, three days ago went flat.  I charged  that battery myself and when putting it back in place  found the radio light was left on.  My second question is..........can leaving the radio switch on over night or days flatten the battery, or is the problem more sinister and I could have an electric leakage in the system?
Any insights about this problem

Indicator switch to an "on" position and ignition off, key removed leaves the sidelights on that side on as "parking lights" .. that is certainly enough to flatten a battery in 48 hours.

radio on is another matter , it will eventually flatten the battery but I have no idea what the current consumption is .... would have thought 2-3 days though ....

Interior light, too, if the headlamp switch is accidentally left pulled out.

A drain of 4 amps would kill it dead in about a day...

check it is charging at the right voltage (guide on here somewhere).  it could be your alternator regulator not charging properly.
