From what I can gather there is an issue with a low 'rumble/vibration' on Some Omegas and not others.
I have a 2.2 saloon. No rumble.
I had a 2.2 estate. low rumble past about 40mph. Just test drove a 2.6 estate today. Same rumble. I also have a friend who had a saloon with the same problem. It seems worse at some times and doesn't seem to be consistent :D. If it were consistent and got louder as speed increased I'd say it was bearings but I'm not sure.
Any ideas of what it is and how to cure it?

But it doesn't sound like I'd expect wheel bearing to sound.

True. But it's not a bad job to do, or an expensive part to buy.
The massive estate interior does act like a sound box too.

I think the suggestion of a rear wheel bearing into the equation has gone away from the possible cause. I have had a similar issue which was wear in the ball joint on the wishbone 'wobbling' on uneven surfaces combined with wear in the anti roll bar drop link (stabiliser).
A wheel bearing noise tends to be a 'droning' which is consistent, only varying in intensity as the speed increases, or with the load on that particular wheel during cornering.
Easy enough to check too.
