Hi folks. Started the oil cooler replacement today as per the guide. Couple of questions.
I have to remove the oil filter housing. Can I reuse the seal between it and the block. And I can't lay my hands on a crows foot socket. Is it possible to use a spanner or will I have to order a socket to get the pipes off.
With regards to the flushing. The water seems to flow slowly through and out of the drain plug and seems clear. Is ghisua good sign or is all the shit stuck inside.
Thanks in advance.

I think you will need the crowsfoot.
You will be flushing for a lot longer yet ;)

Halfords sell crowsfoot spanners. When you think you've finished flushing, you are probably about half way through it. ;)

I haven't used a crows foot before. To be absolutely clear do I need a socket or a spanner. It looks tight on space up there.

Ratchet with extension on and the extension pushes into the square hole in the crows foot. Its still bloody awkward even then in my experience.

Do you have to remove the oil filter housing from the block to do this? I thought you only needed to do that if changing to a spin on filter? I know you have to remove the filter and a lot have had trouble doing so with the housing moving as they've tried to undo the filter, but I thought it was then a case of just re-tightening the housing once the filter was off,is this not the case?
