Got wet replacing the faulty drivers door locking solenoid,for a good replacement.

Then spent 3 hours drying out whilst the contact adhesive set on the plastic section of the door card that seems to want to fall off when ever card is removed.It wont this time as has self tappers and a very large helping of araldite to hold it.

Now waiting for rain to ease up then I can refit door card.....good news is locking system works without faults now  :y

I don't think I've taken one off that doesn't have this problem. Self tappers and a strong glue is certainly the way to go.  :y :y :y

 In the great days of the British Empire, a new commanding officer was sent to an African jungle outpost to relieve the retiring colonel.
 
After welcoming his replacement and showing the usual courtesies (gin and tonic, cucumber sandwiches etc) which protocol decrees, the retiring colonel said,
"You must meet my Adjutant, Captain Smithers, He's my right-hand man and is really the strength of this office. His talent is simply boundless."
Smithers was summoned and introduced to the new CO, who was surprised to meet a hunchback, one eyed, toothless, hairless, scabby and pockmarked specimen of humanity, a particularly unattractive man less than three feet tall.
"Smithers, old man, tell your new CO about yourself."
''Well, Sir, Smithers replied, I graduated with honours from Sandhurst, joined the regiment and won the Military Cross and Bar after three expeditions behind enemy lines. I've represented Great Britain in equestrian events and won a Silver Medal in the boxing middleweight division of the Olympics. I have researched the history of........................."
At which point the Colonel interrupted,
"Yes, yes, never mind that Smithers, he can find all that in your file. Tell him about the day you told the local witch doctor to f*&k off."

Removed the ignition lock and switch on the the 3.2 as occasionally it fails to start with no dimming of lights. All battery connections and earth strap connections appear OK, and are not getting warm when running, hence replacing the electrical switch (8 inc postage) to eliminate as a problem. The indications are identical to those I had on the TD a year or so ago, so I am hoping this is the same (switch) problem. While in there I have dismantled and cleaned the mechanical switch section which was mucky inside, although all sliders are in good shape. :y

If that doesn't fix it, bear in mind that the signal to the solenoid passes through the auto box selector switch on the petrol models, I believe. Not unusual to get a bit of moisture in there in this weather. :y

I've had 2 a 2.6 CDX manual saloon & a 2.2 CDX auto estate , the saloon was up till now the best car I have owned bought it with 50,000 miles kept it 5 years and put another 50,000 miles on it never had any problems at all.
The estate was okay reliability wise but definitely underpowered. Now replaced with the Merc , Jeep & Subaru Forester.

My daughter loves her Forester, 2011 I think, recommended by an OOF member, thanks for that. She has had it 5 years, and I doubt will get rid until it gives up, even though she could afford a Ferrari! :y

The story filtering out at the time, and it is probably apocryphal, was that the pilot(s) escaped injury and did a runner, only to be caught later, and charged accordingly. Probably not true, but makes a good story.
I can only imagine what our pax on the RH side thought as we passed the smoking wreck. :y

I use a wifi extender in my lounge as the powerline signal is not great. Serves the purpose you want. :y

How are you finding the Ducato?

Ducato handled like a breeze block and as gutless as one!! 6 speed autobox never made its mind up what gear it wanted to be in!! But given the size and weight of the body, complete with inboard watermarks I guess it's understandable. Regardless, it did the job for the 10 days we lived in it. Fabulous country full of really nice people..... I could easily live here...:)

Delighted to see you are enjoying yourself Nige. They had no autoboxed RV's when we went 15 years ago, so I'm glad to see that NZ have at last reached the 20th century. :y

It's really difficult to gauge without being aware of the actual risk to the public. Could be nothing, could be a tragedy waiting to happen.

.. but you wouldn't be in this dilemma without having some concerns.

I think the correct response, as said, is to report your concerns to the supervisor, explaining that you are unhappy about the practise and in a dilemma as a result.

The supervisor should read into this, that he isn't in trouble yet, but ought not to let it happen again.

Are you the only party who is HGV qualified? If so, your advice is authoritative and the supervisor would do well to listen.

I agree, as others have said, but in addition, keep a note of the time and date of the conversation, for your own protection, in case the sh1t hits the fan down the line. :y

My last "big" bike was a '54 Ariel VB model 600 sidevalve single,not ultimately fast but it'd hold near its top speed all day long.Didn't need a rev counter you could count the firing strokes! That thing had a kick like a mule if you mis-timed letting the valve lifter go while starting it up :D

A superb sidecar machine, which would pull like a train :y

A few years ago I sold my last bike, a 1931 600cc Square 4, built as a 500, but new top end fitted when owned by my stepfather, who, back in the day, rode for Ariels in the TT (belt drive!) and ISDT.  :y
