I've had my Elite saloon 2.2 dti sitting around for a couple of years. I've sold a few bits but there's still a lot there and there's a number of parts off the car. It's got a bent conrod and is Nautilus blue I believe.

Is anyone looking for a spare to keep theirs going?

I'm in north Dorset near Yeovil.

Omega General Help / Is it difficult to remove the 2.2 DTI turbo?
« on: 27 September 2016, 13:39:06 »
I've got someone who seems to want to buy it off my dead car but I have little time and I can't find any guides or information anywhere about removal.

Is it a big job taking it off, or a few bolts?

Steps to take?

Thanks awfully!

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / WTD Fascia off CCR 2006
« on: 14 June 2016, 19:34:20 »
While trying to get my blasted stereo out several plastic lugs that hold the fascia on to the stereo body broke.

I've finally freed it from the cage.

Does anyone have a fascia or a completely knackered stereo with decent fascia?

Given no power, how might one remove the CD cassette? Possible or does it need power?

Thanks.

Omega General Help / Rear air suspension removal
« on: 09 June 2016, 10:50:06 »
I'm afraid I'm no mechanic.

If I take the rear dampers off, the car will be on its springs and still move. Am I right?

I'm not going to be driving it. I just need it mobile.

I have HID facelift lights.

I've wet sanded to clear coat them but it looks like there are water marks or something on the inside of the clear plastic. I'd like to make them good as new.

I can see there are clips holding the clear onto the black plastic main part (so technical!) but it won't budge and I don't want to break it.

Is there unseen sealer preventing separation? Is it 'a job' or should it be easy?

Just wondered if anyone is going...

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Aaaaargh CCR!
« on: 07 June 2016, 20:05:19 »
I have the correct double din keys. I have nails and I have Allen keys.

It. Will. Not. Come. Out.

They all go in and I hear a kind of click but there's nothing to pull on. I've pushed in as far as it'll go. I've wiggled and pushed and pulled. I've almost broken the plastic Facia trying to get the damn thing out.

My keys are like nail heads. Are they supposed to have a hook?

I forgot how difficult manufacturers make it to do anything to cars.

General Discussion Area / Anyone in Dorset?

Just wondering if there's anyone nearby, as I never hear the best county in the world ;) mentioned.

I'm wondering whether to take the ECU out, and looking at some posts on here it looks like I have to take the whole ABS pump out too? Plus move and empty the PAS reservoir?

That means disconnecting all the brake pipes and a hell of mess, yes?

Or can I just get the ECU off without the pump?

Can anyone tell me if a 2001 Elite auto-dimming, electric memory rear view mirror would fit and work (obviously not the memory part) on a 2000 model mini-facelift?

Thanks and help much appreciated.

Omega General Help / HID lights - which is which?
« on: 01 June 2016, 17:55:09 »
I've seen adverts for facelift HID light assemblies that say will not fit 2000 onwards yet they look exactly like mine, and others that say WILL fit 2000 onwards and look exactly like mine.

Are the ads wrong and the HID fits all Omegas?

As mine is a 2001, I wondered if they might be in a cross-over period and would like to properly identify which lights I have.

Help much appreciated.

Omega General Help / Melted plastic / rubber on switches
« on: 01 June 2016, 16:38:16 »
For a few years, certain switchgear in my Omega has become a bit sort-of melted.

It's like the top layer of plastic on some buttons has softened. In the summer, they'd be a bit sticky.

I'm wondering if other owners have had the same and what they used to clean them.

It's worst on the four window switches on driver's door. I've tried cleaning them with various products, including magic eraser / doctor power but it doesn't come off. I have to scrape it off with a knife to make it a bit better.

Perhaps white spirit or meths might clean them up?
