General Car Chat / Omega camber....
« on: 04 January 2019, 20:14:45 »
Evening guys. Hope youíre all well.

When folk post up alignment figures pre-WIM I notice theyíre always excessively negative camber. Which makes older suspension sags itís not going to go more positive is it!

So. Hypothetically speaking. What is the harm in putting it positive? Curious bear 🐻

General Car Chat / Omega wheel balancing vol II
« on: 16 December 2018, 21:10:57 »
Taking my wheels to a local precision welding place. Good rates for making my wheels round again. However something occurred to me.

Somebody said spin the wheels up with no tyre which is a great idea. After the repair Iím presuming a zero zero balance would be perfect but what realistically will I see after the repair? 10g without a tyre?

As said just curious 😄

General Car Chat / Autodata....

...are a company thatís run by comedians.

Quoted a woman on a starter motor today for a 2012 Nissan Note. Autodata said 0.7hrs. When you see a time like that you know your luck is in........

Or is it 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Fcking thing. Expansion tank out. Plastic inlet tube out. Coolant hose, 2000 wiring harnesses right over two upper bolts. Took me ages and a bit of blood to get one of them out. Down below youíve got about 4 inches of room to get it out. Oil filter housing off. Oil level sensor out. Unbelievable 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 my hand and arm is torn to shreds 🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕

Anyway rant over. On the upside my Moog rear track rods arrived. And I already had front ones so Iíll fit Saturday. Excited 😄😄😄😄

General Car Chat / ATF change
« on: 10 December 2018, 19:14:21 »
Evening kids. Hope youíre all well. 😄

Iíve changed my atf on my ar25 a few times now. I have never dropped the two pans; I simply suck the fluid out and refill. Iíve been happy doing this much to TBs annoyance 😂

However it appears I have developed leaks from both gaskets. Sigh.

On the upside I will get to clean the magnets and change the filter.

Iíve looked for part numbers but the ones in the guides donít match when I called Vauxhall. The chap who wrote the guide mentioned there is a kit for sale. Anybody got any links to a filter and gasket kit?

Also when I remove the filter (3 bolts I believe) is there a sealing o ring that I need to replace? Iíve done a couple of mercs and they didnít even have securing bolts.... they had a tube off the filter with one o ring and it just kinda sat there 🤭🤭🤭

Anyway this wonít be done until next month as my track rods arrive tomorrow and I have no money til then 😂😂😂

General Car Chat / Rear track rods help

Hi guys

Just gone to purchase some new rear track rods for the omega. Carparts4less were selling them at £60 each in Lemforder. However theyíre out of stock.

Iíve tried heat on mine and the adjustment rod still wonít budge. Anyone got two (that actually move lol) that theyíd like to sell me?

General Car Chat / Midrange Omega tyres
« on: 29 October 2018, 19:40:43 »
Ok boys following on from my previous thread regarding stability in my Omega I have some great news for me...Iíve spun up the wheels without the tyres and theyíre not warped or buckled so I save some dollar yay 😁 this week Iím also going to get the camber bang on. And as if that wasnít enough Iíve got some new rear track rods on order to replace my seized ones. So a full geo will be done this week. Iím actually really excited to see an improvement. However....

That means that Iím going to have to get some new tyres to replace my stone-like BCTs.

I totally totally get that putting Michelinís or Dunlopís as suggested is awesome. I simply donít have 350 - 450 to spend on a set of amazing tyres. All I want is stability in the wet.

I really love the idea of Rainsport 3ís however there are loads of comments about premature wear due to being a very soft compound. Is there anything else?

Kumhos that tunnie mentions have pretty good reviews.

No experience apparently of Toyos on here?

Anyone had Avons or Coopers?

I know this is an age old subject but any extra info or help would be great

General Car Chat / How stable is your Omega in the rain
« on: 18 October 2018, 12:52:47 »
Hi guys.

I went on a boys trip paint balling and I drove the passion wagon (the omega). Other than the wheel balancing on the front (😤) the omega is stable in the dry at speed. However in the rain it felt really unstable. I am a bit of a fanny in those conditions i will concede but I dropped down to 50-55 in the slow lane and it was ok. Then there were Audiís and BMWs bombing past at warp speed.

Whatís your experience of this in the omega? Can u bomb it when itís pouring down?

Omega General Help / Why are Omega wheels so hard to balance?
« on: 18 October 2018, 12:39:52 »
Omega is coming in to the garage for a bit of work. Exhaust replacement, alignment and some service bits.

Anyway while itís off the road for a week or so I aim to get the front wheels balancing sorted.

Now I will preface this by saying our balancing machine is erm, old, and I have previously questioned its performance but Iíve had them balanced next door too and though it gets better itís still never perfect. So anyway Iím going to take the tyres off and drop the wheels to precision welding for them to get true and then hopefully theyíll balance up and job done.

However Iíve heard others mention the difficulty so what is it about them?

Ps mine are CD wheels

Omega General Help / Omega wheel bolt covers
« on: 30 June 2018, 22:08:12 »
Hi guys.

Ok, so I want to spruce up my wheel bolt covers. I was going to just buy a new set but I got berated from taxi al last time for being lazy  ;D so is there a way to spruce them up?

They've gone really dull. Presumably due to the TFR from the polish cleaners.

Any ideas...

TIA boyos  :y

Hi guys. Hope you're all well.

Getting ready for taking my lovely Omega to Billing and there's only a couple of niggly things that I need to do. One of them is that the buttons on my drivers door window switch unit thingy are awful. Many years of having my filthy paws touching them.

Anyone got one with decent buttons, as close to new looking as possible; if possible  😄

Thanks boys

General Discussion Area / Situation with neighbour. Help please
« on: 01 June 2018, 14:15:09 »
Hi guys. Hope you're all well.

Looking for a bit of advice if possible.

Ok, so mum and dad have a fence at the bottom of their garden. One of the posts was rotting so dad arranged to have it replaced as the fence on this side is their responsibility. Fair enough.

The chap turned up, put his new post on the floor and proceeded to dig the hole. The back way neighbours watched him dig the hole. Only after this did they complain that they didn't like the fence post  ???

So dad sent the fence man away. The back way neighbour then stormed round going mental that they want the situ sorting??? A bit ironic as she was the one who turned the bloke who came to fix it away   ;D I'm very unhappy about the way she spoke to them. Mum and dad are getting on and they really don't need the hassle.

Anyways the nightmare neighbours are now on holiday and I'm waiting for them to get back so I can go round and have some strong words!!!

Anyway I like to get my facts right...

Am I right in thinking that as my dad is responsible for the fence he is the one to choose what type of fence panel and / or fence post is chosen?

I haven't seen it and I hope I'm not being thick when I say this but a fence post is a bloody fence post lol

Anyways I shall be telling them that we either fit the bloody fence post or she can get a solicitor to correspond with mum and dad and that I'm now dealing with it and if they contact my mum and dad I'm going to get the police on them for harassment!

Rant over.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly received. Cheers boys  :y
