battery was removed straight away and brought home for charging.I know that as long as I'm not forever opening/closing doors/boot I can leave it stood for at least 2wks and it'll still start. The key does actually work the door lock[at least something works on the car ;D]whenever I've removed the battery I've locked the rear and front passenger doors manually then disconnected battery and locked drivers door with the key :y Once I've got this sorted I can set about putting the new wishbones on the V70-it's all go isn't it?Perversely although things are at times going wrong I'm actually quite enjoying working on them as long as long as it's at my own pace :y :y

Given the equipment they had and shortage of ammunition etc they put up one heck of a fight, with General Fortune telling Rommel there'd be no surrender[in the forlorn hope that evacuation would still be possible]even after the French contingent had surrendered, until he was finally forced to give up the struggle.

Pretty sure you can get red in both OAT and non OAT,but wouldn't swear to it without looking it up.I just use the cheapo blue stuff at present it does well enough for an 18yr old car.People keep trying to sell me 10yr stuff but whether I've got 10yrs left-debatable-the car certainly hasn't,so I'm not buying that!!

Turns out I couldn't have made it anyway[unless I'd gone in the V70]but then I figure with petrol/admission/something to eat and drink and quite possibly something from the autojumble it would have been close on a 100 day out :o Hope it was a success and at least the weather was good :y

Checked coolant level and it hadn't dropped from yesterday so hopefully a good sign :y So went for a start to bleed the system and the battery was too flat to start it :'( This damn car is fighting me every step of the way >:( In fairness though it has been stood for 3-4wks and when I did the Volvo radiator and the oil cooler change on the Omega the boot has been open most of the time[for the tools and keeping bits safe/out of the way]and the boot light doesn't go off like the interior lights do so it's my fault as I should have known/expected the battery to go flat.Ah,well job for another day.

Just watched a very interesting C4 programme about them.Detached from the main BEF and stationed on the Maginot line, they were then left "stranded" when the Germans thrust through the Ardennes and pushed the allies back to Dunkirk.Ordered to fight on they were along with the French steadily forced back to St.Valerie where plans were made to evacuate them.Admiral James assembled a rescue flotilla just off the coast awaiting the opportunity to go in and pick them up.This could only be done under cover of darkness and despite Admiral James defying admiralty orders by staying put after they'd ordered him home the plans came to nought due at least in part by fog descending as nightfall did[on two consecutive nights]and the 51st could hold out no longer and surrendered into captivity. No real recognition for their brave fight was forthcoming and no campaign medals issued. Two of the survivors who featured in the programme passed away this year.

My Haynes manual is down at the garage so can't check wiring diagrams for you, have you checked for any power to it when things are turned on or is it permanently live?

Don't know what model of Volvo you have but my V70 certainly has a saddle tank with a balancing pump.Anyway went to lock up straight from work and checked all nuts/bolts for being tight re-fitted inlet manifold and re-filled cooling system,no leaks to that point :y Then realised I'd forgotten to bring the key for it with me so I couldn't run it to bleed the system or check for any leaks when under pressure :-[ :-[ Ah well quick job[hopefully]for tomorrow.
