General Car Chat / A misprint surely?
« on: 02 July 2020, 15:04:53 »
Read an article today that Jaguar Classic have brand new 3.8L[as fitted to S1 E-type XK 150 Mk IX Mk X etc]engine blocks for sale. Each comes with a 12mth warranty and a certificate of authenticity. The price quoted in the article is £14,340 each inc. VAT.Surely that kind of money for a bare engine block has to be a misprint doesn't it?

A driver in Massachusetts is being charged with negligent driving after the Tesla he was driving-on autopilot-ran into a police car parked at the side of the road and pushed that into the vehicle the police officer had pulled over. The driver admitted that he "might not have been paying attention" Well no sh@t Sherlock, how long did it take you to figure that one out?

China have now passed a new law in regard to Hong Kong by 160 odd votes to 0. This has brought widespread condemnation which I'm sure will cause the Chinese no end of sleepless nights...…...not!! The text of the new law was kept secret until after the voting had taken place :D :D

I see the city council have voted 12-0 to amend the cities rules in order to disband the police force in favour of community based "policing".This has yet to go to a public vote on the matter once the draft proposal has been firmed up.Apparently this new form of law enforcement will provide a more "holistic, health based" approach. This among a recent spate of shootings in the city.

An American who survived Covid after many days in ICU on a ventilator received a 181 page itemised hospital bill for his treatment which came to $1,122,501.04 :o His insurance picked up most of the tab and the rest came from the US government assistance programme.

New barriers/handrails are being installed on the bridge which have caused the bridge to "sing" in certain wind conditions, apparently when this happened it could be heard 3 miles away.

No this is not a TB style go at non-delivery etc. If I click on a link on here[such as in the "project" thread]it will never connect it just comes up with a blank page. Also recently if I'm actually on E-bay if I select say books[it happens no matter which category I look at] it won't let me select a genre I have to type in what I'm looking for on the search bar. It won't let me select a price range or new/used etc I can click on those and nothing alters from the original page.Has anyone else experienced this? Have you fixed it if so how?

General Discussion Area / Virtual racing
« on: 27 May 2020, 07:52:44 »
They have had virtual racing in the Formula E class and so far one driver for Audi has been suspended after it was found he paid a professional gamer to "drive" for him! Meanwhile in a virtual NASCAR race one "driver" was crashed into and threw his toys out of the pram and refused to continue so his sponsors have pulled his funding saying they don't sponsor quitters.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Head units
« on: 25 May 2020, 20:19:56 »
My Omega[a F/L Elite] left the factory with the CCR2006  and Traffic Master system fitted.Finding a 2006 is relatively easy the hard part is finding a Bose compatible one as sellers don't seem to know for sure what they're selling.I wouldn't mind fitting one of the NCDC units but the ones with screen[ to avoid any issues]that come up for sale all seem to be from the Vectra/Signum which I'm told won't fit the Omega for some reason? Looking through the audio manual for the car it seems another option was a CCRT2008 but again were these available in Bose only or were they available as either Bose or non-Bose in which case I'd be back to trying to find a seller that knew what they were selling?

MPs are apparently being offered £10,000 each to pay for laptops/other equipment and staff wages because they are working from home and not in Westminster. To his credit Corbyn has turned this down.

The Swedish city of Lund has come up with a plan to spread a ton of chicken manure in the city park in order to deter crowds gathering there to celebrate Walpurgis Night as they fear such a gathering would spark a surge in the covid outbreak.
