Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Outside air temp sensor
« on: 16 February 2024, 10:26:52 »
3.2 Elite

So I was getting weird readings on my temp reading way below what it was, so replaced temp sensor behind bumper and doesn't seem to be any different, showing 0oC when it's about 9oC. Is this then the wiring at fault somewhere?

Just a thought....do the rears have wear indicators?

Not that I'm aware of, they should have seized and rusted up indicators though as that seems to happen first before they wear out!

Omega General Help / Re: Question about cabin filter
« on: 21 January 2024, 12:07:41 »
I have to compress the sides slightly on the genuine GM pollen filters to place them in position, but they still need a helping finger to support them until 'clipped'....
Maybe I should write to GM and tell them their filters are the wrong size then.... ::)

I don't have any clips as such it just slides into a recess. There is plastic sort of guides but they've not get clips or anything on it to secure it.

I'll double check the one in it and see if it is for the FL one. Just thought it would have been tighter in the slot it goes in.

Omega General Help / Question about cabin filter
« on: 19 January 2024, 11:28:03 »
I noticed when I replaced the cabin filter/pollen filter thing it was quite loose in it's mountings, is that right? It seemed like almost half the thickness of the actual holder bit it goes into, so you can move it up and down in holder. I also seen some talk that the facelift model it should be a charcoal filter and not a plain filter that's for the PFL, I think the replacement was charcoal as it had a sort of dark hue look to it on it but couldn't be sure.

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Rain Sensor
« on: 17 January 2024, 13:01:02 »
The intermittent has never worked on my elite since I got it, it had recently had a new screen fitted before I got it so maybe something not right after that, also the N/S section of the cover on the back of the sensor bit fell of a couple of times of it's own accord.
There is a timer relay for the intermittent wipe   ;)
UHEC (engine fuse box)
£10 clicky  SAAB

Funnily enough I pulled back the switch for the washers the other day and the wash/wipe worked, that was another thing not working, I don't think intermittent works though, anyhoo cheers for the link :y

Omega General Help / Re: Suspension issue?

If the tie rods need doing, then just do them. Likewise the drop links... These may even be considered a service item with the state of the roads.

When I replaced my drop links I used these heavy duty ones from Meyle, they do a standard one and the HD one.

Omega General Help / Re: wet in boot
« on: 23 December 2023, 19:47:10 »
The external trim strip covering the rear roof pillar to quarter panel join is also a leak hot spot - not sure if the plastic peg sockets shrink or what, but a thorough clean and nice bead of body sealant solved the problem for me.  This was after years of trying to locate where the water was coming in, even dusting everything in chalk.

I think my boot leak is maybe coming from there, seem to get dampness up in the back of the wing that then runs down on it's merry way to the spare wheel well, couldn't actually see exactly where it was coming from just up the back of beyond somewhere.

Used to get that on my cavalier, before I fixed the (numerous) water leaks, water would literally pour out the corner of the plastic sunroof winder surround and onto my lap when you went downhill and braked!

I don't like a sunroof.

1....They leak.
2....They rattle squeak and groan.
3.....They take headroom......which is only fine if you are a stunted shortarse.
4.....They add weight in the wrong place.
5......They cost around £1000.

Plus they never ever get used, I think I opened my cavalier roof thrice in 16 years of having the thing, closed it pretty quickly after I got up to speed due to booming and buffeting (risk of loosing my hair-piece!).

Cool, will get a gander at that once the hurricane force winds and rain pass  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Reverse sensor makes strange noise
« on: 17 December 2023, 01:25:40 »
Car: Elite 3.2 02 plate

Just recently, when reversing, the parking sensor or something is making a loud single tone as soon as you put in reverse, seems intermittent- the issue, not the sound itself -  the sensors still do their job sometimes, but just wondering what this warning type sound is as soon as I put in R?

Cheers
