Ok, who else keeps a full record of all work done on the car on Excel spreadsheet, noting the date, mileage, etc…?

I am a student, what do you think?  ;) :D

Senator is mechanically very solid usually.
As long as there are no rattles from the timing chain....
Mark has detailed the other bits.

Mostly it is easier to work on too. ;)

Electrics are questionable, but hey it is getting on for 15yrs old.

Defiinitely fun to drive and for £250... can't really go wrong. :)

Didn't know they were chain driven... interesting.. :)

Drive train is reliable enough, back axles whine a bit though. Its the rest of it that isn't, you know things like ABS, Cruise, Blowers, Windows......

I am not fussed too much about windows and stuff, as long as the front one works, cruise would be nice for motorways though.

You took one on that Rally and i seamed to do fine.

Do you reckon a senny is up to a 6k mile trip around Europe?

He was asking £375.

I got it for £250

Got a bargain there i think, look forward to some piccys! what are the rear arches like?

A Senny would be a very cheap Euro trip car for me, just concerned about reliability / parts availability.

thats interesting news on the mpg!! Means we get more power and more mpg!  ;D

I find my megga (when aint buggered it) very comfy, its better than some sofa's!!!

On the 1 hr 20 min run to my grandads i feel refreshed and no ache anyware when i get there. Being a passenger in my mums Nissan Almera i feel tired, my lower back hurts and legs ache (not enough room) and generally nackered!

Thats when we go i try and do the driving, even it costs me money!! i'd prefer to be in an Omega!

I think you will find the elites were equipped with adjustable steering columns from 97 onwards....

Note the use of the phrase "I think" ;)

I await correction/cofirmation from Mark...

I am with Jaime on this one, pre 1998 mini facelift don't have adjustable columns...

Sounds good, I do hope that incredibly low mileage is genuine!  Were the shocks upgrades or replacements?

Replace the cabin air filter to stop the misting problem.  (Also make sure drain hole in bottom of filter box is unblocked).

Yep replace the air filter, also run the system on 'ECO' on full heat for a while, that should help dry out a few things and reduce the moisture in the compressor.

Unfortunately pre mini-facelift Omega's don't have height adjustable steering  :(

I could have sworn my R reg 1998 2.0 GLS did...

'98 sure it wasn't mini facelift? - my '98 R Reflection V6 didn't have it...

Why not buy a torch?

and strap it to the dog  ;D

Now your being silly ::)

Half the time i walk the dog i can't see her! In the fog recently was funny would't see her for 10 mins at a time!  ::)

£140 for that setup!!  :o - Is it the battery's fault, not designed for a slow trickle charge from the solar units??

sorry can't help here, but sure someone will  :y

:( And i thought you were a wizz with your soldering iron Tunnie  :(

Jaime is, he has a gas powered one!  :o - I only have a draper budget one, i can solder but not very well.

Although tbh why bother with batters, run yourself some power from the house and get an outside plug! Not too far, just outside. You might have to run a cable the length of the garden, but is should be small enough?

If anyone spots a senny at a good price, and has tax & mot drop me a PM. I'd be very interested!!  :D
Does that signal the death nell of another Senator?  :'(

 ;) ;D

I'd get it purring for the trip and try and sell for a profit on my return!

[a recommended option.

Just find one with decent mechanics and sound chasis. :)

]

Sounds like good news!! - a TD megga would be the sensible option, however a 3.0 Straight 6 is very temping  ;)

Loads of spares sound good too!

As i can see Dave lot of people here like them, they sound easier to work on too.

As it happens i was told about one today!!! will ring him tomorow!!
[/quote]

Sounds cool  :y

I think after discussions here, it needs:

A) Be 3.0 24v version
B) decent mot & tax prefered (although mot is more important than tax)
C) Rear arches to be in good nick

Cheers Graham  :y
