Usual V6 woes would be leaking cam cover gaskets, check coolant for cleanliness[as a check for oil cooler problems]and level.Ask about or see any cam belt change history-should be every 4yrs or 40,000mls.Make sure it gets up to and holds temperature and if auto changes gear smoothly.Don't know if 2.6 can suffer same pre-cat fault codes as 3.2 but if they do that's a reasonably easy issue to resolve.Others will probably give better/clearer advice.

Look out for last cambelt change. 40k miles or 4years whichever  comes first. Budget £350 -bit less diy. Also check front tyre wear and it doesn't pull to one side on the level. Could be symptomatic of suspension wishbone wear.

Have a look through forum posts as there is a wealth of info and diy advice. Good choice of barge if you can live with fuel consumption.

Depends really on your own personal preference,as to whether to try sourcing an auto. Many on here would tell you that having more pedals than feet is the only way to go.Would I be put off a car because it's got a manual box?[I've had nothing but autos since 1996]No I wouldn't if in all other respects it was the "right"car :y

Think there's an auto 3.2 estate for sale in the relevant section ::)
