Car insurance time again...
« on: 31 August 2017, 16:10:34 »

Anyone had some good deals recently? Typically I always appear to get the best prices from comparison sites, this year it's £374 from the AA.

That's 10k per year, commuting into London, on drive way, protected NCB. Not bad, it's cheaper than last year.

Based on my 2013 CC, a rather optimistic £11k value that's auto-generated.

However i know most of you are old farts and as such can insure a 5.0 V8 for about £2.50  ;D

Mine was AXA via Money Supermarket, £440 ish, that's commuting, business use (me only), parked on the drive and 40k miles/yr  :o

They've probably realised that the greatest risk to the average Volvo driver is they drop one of their Werthers Originals and have priced accordingly.  ;D

Also 10yrs protected NCD helps. v :y

Kitty is something like £400. 20k, business use for both of us, protected NCB, think I put value somewhere between £15-17k.  Expecting it to go up this year, as insurance does appear to be creeping up.

Well deal done, sticking with Admiral, got the monthly payment lower than I've been paying for last 12 months, so happy with that.

What's odd is they quote higher on the VW but for MrsT they have a staging price nearly £200 lower than any comparison deal I found, so over-all it's less.

Wish I could, genuinely, I'd love to live out in the countryside, like Wales. I look at what my neighbours house is on the market for as a rough idea of value, put that price in Wales or up 'Norf and I can buy a huge house, massive garden needing a ride-on mower  8)

Problem is no jobs in mobile development, not exactly many jobs in Wales for someone who manages Apple (iOS), Android and Chromecast development.  :(

Down size to a two bed semi and invest the profit in going self employed... either as a contractor or doing your own thing...

Alternatively, move away to a similar size house and use the difference to allow for a real job :P

Fixed that for you ;). I know what you mean though, I feel pretty lucky to be able to ply my trade in pretty much any large town or city. I worked in London for 18 months and would never choose to do so again!

Do you REALLY need to travel into London everyday for your job ?
How long does it take you to get into work at the moment ?

Apologies for the thread drift  :)
