.......and I noticed a 'sloshing' sound as I braked......and took off again.....and braked. Hmmm.....parked up in the retail car park and took the rubber bung out of the nearside sill...dry a a nuns wotsit. Took the rear rubber bung out of the nearside door........trickle. Took the front bung out......Niagra Falls 
That rain was heavy this morning.

Is it the door that's filling up with water? 

There should be 3 or 4 slots along the bottom of the inside skin for the water to drain out.  Sounds like they're bunged up with crud.

Probably anti corrosion wax from the factory.

Might actually be worth getting it into Vauxhall for an inspection pending a corrosion warranty claim before getting too involved

Replacement trim on the window might also be in order.

The rubber bungs are supposed to have a drain hole in them, I have seen them get clogged up over time.
