Jump In The Dyson!
« on: 26 September 2017, 21:17:57 »

Dyson have announced today that they are jumping on the bandwagon and will produce an electric car!  :)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41399497

I wonder if it will clean the road as it goes?  ;D

They should really try to get the vacuum cleaner right first.

To be fair, he took his ideas to Hoover and all others and none wanted it. He is now the household name and market leader/brand, be interesting to see what they do.

He needs big bucks though for this, his products are not exactly in the affordable end of the market either.

He should take note of what happened to Sir Clive Sinclair. Several useful innovative products, followed by a duffer that sullied his name and brand - the Sinclair C5. Now Dyson is emulating this - it'll be a disaster.

Thinking the same. I wonder what minute bit of plastic will snap off rendering the whole thing useless.

With my positive hat on, i wonder if great advances will be made on solid state batteries with the 1 billion £ .

Buy shares in power generation and charging point installation. The latter will be a licence to print money.

No more unlikely than a bloke who created an electronic payments platform making a car, in some respects less so.

Except that the word 'Dyson' and 'reliability/quality' are not words you consider in the same sentence without the word 'poor'.

I have this image of a plastic item where the door handles snap off, the motor burns out and the wiring loom packs up but, not to worry, you can get it fully rebuilt for a nominal one off charge equal to 30% of the original purchase price.

And the marketing point will be a clear plastic holder at the rear so you can view the pollution you didn't emit.

I'm lucky, as clearly I have the only 4 reliable Dysons ever made...

...though, granted, after over 20yrs, the switch is becoming intermittent on the garage vac.

A Dyson vacuum cleaner seems to be an exercise in seeing how many 90 degree bends and sharp corners you can fit in the air path between the carpet and the bag oops! sorry - cyclone. Bags are inefficient, aren't they? He uses small paper filters instead, which you have to clean out after every use.  ::)

I wonder how long it'll take before the climate system on these cars clogs up? :-X

I must also be lucky too, our DC01 is still going strong and not faultered once, we now have a new V6 Ball thingy. The only thing that is annoying about it, is it keeps falling over for some reason....?

It'll take ages as the atmosphere will be much cleaner with all the electric cars charged up with clean renewable energy.  8)

Some of them may be reliable, but they aren't much use for actually sucking up dirt of the floor. Get yourselves a Sebo. You will be amazed at the difference.  ;)

We have a DC1 from the Victorian era. It's semi-retired now but is still used to clear up brick dust, concrete, and general builders rubble.

Nope, not had that either, sucks pretty well on all but the cordless - even on full power, its at best adequate with the crevice tool. Pretty good with floor tools on, to the point of day to day vac'ing, its all she uses. Mains ones come out when there is more to do, as the cordless does have a hopelessly small collection container

Istr Mr DTM has a Sebo. Next time your visiting, take her with you and ask him for a demonstration. Its like comparing a 3.0 MV6 with a Desmond.  ;)
