If you can find one near you have a chat with a McTimoney Chiropractor ... After years of physio/osteopath/chiropractors of various type and hues this has been a godsend to me ...
Many years back I slipped 2 discs in my back, the RAF treatment was to hang weights off my ankles for 7 days then tell me I had to live with it ..... various practitioners over the years have pushed, twisted, pummelled etc etc all achieving not a lot. At a large country show there was a McTimoney demonstration going on that Chris persuaded me to "have a go" .... lead on the bed and this guy just looked at me for a couple of minutes - he wouldn't let me say anything - then pulled my ankles gently, and then told me that I had at some time I had damaged my back and that there was something "strange" with my pelvis / leg geometry that he couldn't fathom ... I then told him I had had polio as a kid which has left my right leg 1/2" shorter than the left ... he then asked me if anyone had ever aligned my pelvis ... answer no .... so he then did it .. just a few small shoves on my hips an a couple of pulls on my buttocks and the pain was gone !! Seems my back had been compensating for a twisted pelvis for many years, not helped by the "short leg" which tends to twist the pelvis anyhow.
I would not have believed the difference if you had told me .. in simple terms its all about small movements to realign the body not bloody great big ones that most osteopaths seem to enjoy !!.
My local lass is quite small, but manages to put everything back in line with no problems and I feel great .. I visit every 6 months for a check up and no longer walk like a pregnant duck after working on the car, and can easily walk the dog 5 - 6 miles without any pain ... something that was not possible for many years. Every visit is £40 for an hour as she checks and, if necessary, realigns every joint in the body.
I would recommend her to anyone with any muscular pain at all.
