Wow, that's great to hear, Albs. Before I read down to your post, I was going to say Chiropracter above all else because I had a good experience with one near Wareham Station (near you at all. Sir?) when I had a neck/shoulder problem plus hip pain.
First visit, a few gentle manipulations and magic happened. Another visit two weeks later to check and I was declared fixed!

Ron.

I haven't posted anything yet.  :D

For muscular / skeletal problems, I think an MRI scan is the way to go these days. Ive had two in the last month and will have nother in the next week or two.
Apparently my lower right leg is quite complicated.  ::)

If you can find one near you have a chat with a McTimoney Chiropractor ...

That's interesting thanks Nige!  :y  I think I need my pelvis realigned....  :-\

I take it that a McTimoney Chiropractor is a kind of sub discipline?  ???

I've found a McTimoney Chiropractor about 5 miles away, so I think I'll give them a ring tomorrow.  :y

McTimoney is a lesser qualification that the Doctor of Chiropractic required to call yourself a Chiropractor - it is a shorter training period and does not include full diagnosis and x-ray/imaging interpretation that is part of the main degree course.

I suffer from pain in my lower back, hips and knees.  :(

I was told years ago that I have a twisted pelvis which at the time didn't cause any problems, but as I've got older the pain levels have increased and at times I've had mobility issues which can only get worse.  :-\  My GP's response has been to dish out painkillers and anti inflammatories which have helped, but I don't feel that these are treating the problem just masking the symptoms.  :-\

I'm wondering if manipulation might help and given most of you lot are creaky old geezers, i thought this was the ideal place to ask!  :)

So Chiropractor, Osteopath or Physiotherapist?  ???  TIA!  :y

Have you tried less cider? ;)

On a serious note, Mrs. KW sees an Osteopath due to a back problem and it does help. No idea what the difference is between that and a Chiropractor, though. :-\

From the website ...

"In general terms, physiotherapy works on the soft tissue between the vertebrae and other joints and does not usually involve spinal manipulation; osteopathy tends to apply long lever techniques if the spine is manipulated, whilst chiropractic applies short levers in a precise adjustment of the individual vertebrae."

Update.  :)

I've had a few sessions with a Chiropractor and generally I walk out of his office like a spring lamb!  :y  Well not quite.  ;)

So whatever he does seems to help but it dosn't last.  Interestingly the pain seems to have switched from my right hip to the left, which he says is that as he's realigned me the left is doing more which is why it's grumbling.  :-\

He also reckons that all the little muscles around the hip joints have become stiff with age and that's the source of the pain rather than the joint itself.  I'm going to keep going for a while and see how it goes.  ::)

An option I have been considering recently.  ::)
Had an appointment with a surgeon to discuss the possibility of replacing my right knee joint. The info I gave him led to him to believe I may have infection inside the bone in my lower leg, and it if so it has ben there since I had compound fractures 12/10 1976 !! :o
He sent me for an MRI scan to determine this, as it should light up like a Christmas tree on the scan.
The scan was inconclusive because it was masked by the fact that the muscle on the outside of the lower leg is extremely calcified which apparently didn't allow them to see what else is going on.
Back for another scan with an injection of dye first.
This showed there is indeed a lot of infection living inside the bone which means the knee joint cant be replaced until this is removed.
I thought this might mean a course of strong antibiotics, but no.
It involves cutting a hole in the bone and scooping the infection out, then probably packing it with antibiotic pellets.
Then we can talk about knee joint replacement.
I'm thinking that whatever state its in, it has stopped me from falling over for the last 41 years and I'm nearly 60 now, so is it worth the aggro.
Might be best to leave things alone.  :-\ ::)................or just do a google search on the nearest glue factory.  ;D
