An option I have been considering recently. 
Had an appointment with a surgeon to discuss the possibility of replacing my right knee joint. The info I gave him led to him to believe I may have infection inside the bone in my lower leg, and it if so it has ben there since I had compound fractures 12/10 1976 !!
He sent me for an MRI scan to determine this, as it should light up like a Christmas tree on the scan.
The scan was inconclusive because it was masked by the fact that the muscle on the outside of the lower leg is extremely calcified which apparently didn't allow them to see what else is going on.
Back for another scan with an injection of dye first.
This showed there is indeed a lot of infection living inside the bone which means the knee joint cant be replaced until this is removed.
I thought this might mean a course of strong antibiotics, but no.
It involves cutting a hole in the bone and scooping the infection out, then probably packing it with antibiotic pellets.
Then we can talk about knee joint replacement.
I'm thinking that whatever state its in, it has stopped me from falling over for the last 41 years and I'm nearly 60 now, so is it worth the aggro.
Might be best to leave things alone.  ................or just do a google search on the nearest glue factory.

I suffer from pain in my lower back, hips and knees.   

I was told years ago that I have a twisted pelvis which at the time didn't cause any problems, but as I've got older the pain levels have increased and at times I've had mobility issues which can only get worse.    My GP's response has been to dish out painkillers and anti inflammatories which have helped, but I don't feel that these are treating the problem just masking the symptoms. 

I'm wondering if manipulation might help and given most of you lot are creaky old geezers, i thought this was the ideal place to ask! 

So Chiropractor, Osteopath or Physiotherapist?    TIA! 

Unfortunately this is the first call for GP's, they just act as a firewall between you and an expert opinion.

Sniffing a bit of glue now and again might ease the pain.

Update. 

About a month ago the pain in my left hip was getting worse and I was struggling to walk any distance and wasn't sleeping properly. 

So I went to my GP who booked me in for X-Rays and an appointment with the Orthopedics Specialist, who I saw this afternoon. 

The X-Ray shows that the hip joint is very worn and he said that the pain is caused by the bone rubbing on bone and that a hip replacement is the answer.    He showed no interest in the fact that before I saw the Chiropractor it was my right hip that was painful or why the pain has switched sides.  He merely said that "the evidence is all there", pointing to the X-Ray. 

As I'm not in as much pain as I was a month ago, I've declined his kind offer to take his scalpels and saws to me and will see how things go.

That's interesting Tony, as when I first saw the Chiropractor he said I had a stiff ankle which was part of the problem.

Yes there must be an acupuncture point that is the equivalent of Viagra!
